It’s also been ages since we were a bit shit. I quite like it, it’s like finding your previously forgotten about pair of old slippers. Feels natural for a club like ours.

Lookman looks a decent player. I thought Soumare was good. Would’ve kept him on over Tielemans. Poor start, good reaction. ****ed by the refs.

How is the second one even close to offside. The offside rule states

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:

  • interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or
  • interfering with an opponent by:
  • preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
  • challenging an opponent for the ball or
  • clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
  • making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball

He didn’t touch the ball, he was not in his line of sight, he didn’t challenge for the ball, he didn’t attempt to play the ball, he made no obvious action. He wasn’t even in Sanchez’s way, it’s dreadful officiating

I'm sure for these decisions in the past the lineman called the ref over and said 'if he's obstructing the keeper's view then he's offside' rather than flagging straight away? That was what needed looking at by VAR, not the side-on shots they were basing it on.

Of course it’s on VAR 🤣

Wouldn't have been a factor if we played our football from the beginning, with 11 men. (Maddison doesn't count.)

It's like blaming a prozzer for giving you the clap. It's your own fault for going there in the first place.

We shouldn't need to be relying on refereeing decisions.

Can't start games the same way all the time. We got what we deserved, nothing.

Maddison shouldn't even be on the bench. Iheancho should be starting and it's no surprise we've looked better again when Lookman has come on.

Fuming with that performance and tactics.

Hopes we've had in the last two seasons are dramatically fading already....need to string a few wins in a row

At least Rogers will have his excuse and no serious questions will be asked of his selection... again...And our constant lack of fight until we concede a couple... again!

Stick Maddison in the Under 23s and only play him in League Cup and Europa.

Decided to play for 30 mins and still should’ve won.

Take the handbrake off Brendan ffs.

Officiating was poor but we never should’ve allowed ourselves to get into that position.

Team that finished the game needs to be the team that starts against Burnley.

Stop bleating about cheating and corruption, you have no evidence for it.

What it is literal, dogmatic application of the laws of the game. Allied with incompetence.

Not even funny. Fuming.

Bertrand can fcuk off, how's he waltzed in to this team automatically? He's crap

He is an all you know. Justin coming back will be like a new signing. Bertrand should be nowhere near a starting birth.

I threw my mouse and broke my screen when Bertrand did not get a freekick for a full on push minutes after that pen decison. Spent most 2nd half calming down and go buying a new screen. (Yep, I am a dumbass....)

So we finally played some decent football after going 2 goals down?

What I saw first half was massively frustrating. Slow slow passing out from the back and losing the ball constantly inviting constant pressure. We looked 2nd best yet again. But take it we improved after going 2 goals down and could have got something?

Dud start to the season to say at least. Meh.

You're lucky your screen was already broken by the time those offside calls were made!

Ref getting it again.

I can see why he gave the first (missing the arm pull) but absolutely not why VAR didn't overrule it or ask him to take a look.

Our two disallowed goals weren't his calls, they were the assistant's.

I imagine from the touchline the lino would have had a job seeing what Harvey's position was relative to the keeper. Again we needed VAR to intervene, but think they were in the 'not clear and obvious' area at that point.

It’s not cheating. Completely agree with you. However, watching some of the decisions already this season and then this game, compare it to the euros, these individuals are not good enough to do their job. They need shifting out of our game. Refs are too poor for such a multi billion pound product

It's worse than that. In both incidents he was moving away from the keeper as the ball was played.
