Legia Warsaw Pre-Match Thread: 5:45pm @ Polish Army Stadium

Assuming Vardy will sit this out again. So it's the same starting line up as Napoli.

No Wilf for this so Hamza in I imagine? Got to have someone defensive in that midfield and Soumare wont be that player

Get Thomas back in at left back, and I do think Perez will start as well

Start Daka and KEEP him through the middle all game, don't shove him out wide again

Legia have won the league the last 2 seasons but are currently 11th (3 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses) and 8 points behind 1st (although have 2 games in hand), and looks like they play a 352/3421

Not sure how good Legia are, but I'd like some backup players to get some minutes.

Ward

Ricardo Amartey Evans Thomas

Choudhury

KDH Soumare

Nacho (drifting central) Daka Barnes

Evans, Nacho and Barnes off if needed so they can start next Prem game 😛

Think KDH could play the DM role.

Literally no idea what could happen. On paper we should shut all over them, but we’re currently not playing well, this is away, a vociferous European crowd I imagine, high tempo overly enthusiastic football from them….. just try not to lose the game I think. I’d go strong again, this team hasn’t got going yet and needs an opportunity to do so.

Kasper

Ricardo

Evans

Cags

Castagne

Ndidi

Youri

Barnes

Kelechi

Lookman

Vardy.

Like this. If he’s fit, I’d swap Evans in for Vesty.

Need to win here if we want to progress so for me we don't make wholesale changes. Vardy probably doesnt travel.

Kasper

Ricardo

Amartey

Vestergaard

Soyuncu

Castagne

Soumare

Tielemans

Perez

Iheanacho

Daka

Save Evans for Palace.

I'd like to see Lookman in a free role behind Daka and Iheanacho. With his ability to drift wide and KDH being left footed then they can close off the channels if needs be.

We need Evans fit for premier league imo.

I’d only play him every 7 days (if that’s what it takes) and reverting to a 3 in the cups and Europe gives us scope to rest some and get minutes in to the legs of others

Hard to see us winning with our current form and away with a hostile crowd to contend with. A draw wouldn't be too bad. A defeat would make progression difficult.

Agree. But I’m not sure he’s actually match-fit yet? Suspect he needs some games to get up to speed? 🤷

They are crap but that doesn't mean we will be too strong for them. As long as the opposition are in our face and the crowd on top then we will cause no end of bother for ourselves. Individual brilliance needed from Seniorman IMO.

Keep Evans and Iheanacho (hopefully) fresh for next Sunday

                      Schmeichel

Castagne  Soyuncu   Vestergaard   Thomas

                  Soumare    KDH

     Perez          Maddison        Lookman

                             Daka

and next Sunday I’ve been thinking the best way to get Iheanacho into the team and come up with the following:

                           Schmeichel

            Soyuncu    Evans    Vestergaard

Ricardo        Tielemans   Ndidi         Castagne

              Iheanacho               Barnes

                                 Vardy

With Ricardo as wing back he can provide the width down the right so Iheanacho can stay inside just off Vardy, coming in on that left foot. The thought of Vestergaard as left sided CB is a bit scary but he played there well for Denmark and Castagne can be more of a defensive wing back as Barnes will keep natural width on the left

I agree. I think we need to forget Europe for them two unless we progress to the latter stages and just keep them fresh to perform at the weekends. They are our two most important players in my mind. Vards gets 20 goals this season if he avoids injury and is used correctly and Evans makes whoever he plays with look twice the player they are.

I’d rather play him in the league to get him fit and he miss out in cup games than the other way around

First goal will be huge. Legia are 14th and near the relegation zone. Their fans are on their back.

Sounds a bit like us then.
