A great example of how quickly things change. Barnes now looking like he’ll only be able to make an impact from the bench, perhaps even after Daka, Perez and Lookman.
Where were we again 3 weeks ago?

I wonder if JJ will be on the bench?

I can see us using so many football cliches for this game.

I highly doubt Justin will be in the squad yet he's only just returned to full training.

Arsenal are better defensively than we are, are we better going forward than them? I'd say so, absolutely on our day. Will be a tight game but I think we'll just find enough.

We’re both fairly similar to be honest. On our day we’re a match for anyone in the league, catch either of us on an off day and we can be easy pickings. This will come down to who can hold their nerve for the 90 minutes.

Arsenal have turned a corner but they’re still less than impressive against the leagues top teams….

2-0 defeat to Chelsea, 5-0 defeat to Man City…. And the rest of their wins and draws coming against the leagues weaker teams. Their only scalp this season is Spurs.

Its a huge test for the gunners, and their defence will be put under more pressure than they’ve recently had.

I quite fancy us to take them apart at the weekend…. 3-1.

Please can we have one of those games where we take the lead and its game over for the opposition. Total control and a further 2nd and maybe 3rd and shut it down with a clean sheet.

That outcome is the making of a great weekend, and a happy FT Forum, on during, and post match threads...

Don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a happy match thread during a game :P

Lawro has us winning 2-1 so that has stuffed us

It's the same every week. "I fancy Jamie Vardy to score". Fuk off Lawro.

It will be a tight game, I hope we play well like against Man Utd (and even Burnley). We know defensively we struggle, can't keep a clean sheet, so we need the attack firing. Going with a 1-1 draw though.

Same lineup as last PL games. Assuming Vardy is 100% fit.

Ricardo

Amartay

Evans

Soyuncu

Castagne

Tielemans

Soumare

Maddison

Iheanacho/Daka

Vardy

Feel that Iheanacho hasn’t  been at his best for the last couple of games so maybe Daka gets a start, or Daka for Vardy if he is still injured…

Up the City… :scarf:

We used to do that in 19/20. Games against Newcastle, West Ham, Villa, Southampton etc where we took the lead and went on to totally annihilate them. We were so ruthless. I just want that team back.

Got a strong gut feeling we might just shock Arsenal a bit tomorrow 👀

They’ve been on a good run but if we show up as we have been the last few weeks our system should be enough to keep them at bay with how they play.

They are a funny club as well after a few games they are riding the crest of a wave, but they have history under Arteta of doing this and then falling off the surfboard. Hopefully they underestimate us a bit as well which will also only help.

Hopefully we get at them, work hard - the full backs are going to be key in how we operate, they’ll need to put a shift in defensively to halt the likes of Auba - and also choose the right moments to support the attacks. The midfield battle hopefully as well will be in our favour, we need Madders to win those set pieces to relieve any counter attack pressure immediately and we need to stop Partley from being too involved.

Going to be a good match and a great result will really put us back in business for a top four potential finish 🦊

They’ve kept 10 clean sheets in their last 20 matches, compared to our four. Foxestalk is an odd place, I was shot down for saying we should be beating Brentford, and yet this thread is pretty optimistic about our chances against Arsenal…

We'd top that chart with 10 clean sheets and 14 goals conceded in the last 20 games that Jonny Evans has completed 90 minutes 🤞

Looks like they could be missing a few players

Mind games I reckon.

I can't stand Arsenal. Hoping we can atone for that awful home performance against them last season.

We were also coming off a very hard European game. I think that played a part. Im hoping the rest of many key players in mid week will give us a better footing for this game.

Didn’t Willian also have his like 1 ever good game for them as well?

Was also the time we tried a 442 with Ricardo at right wing and Barnes having to go off injured

Completely wrong system to play and just played into their hands easily

Yes we got completely overran in midfield by them and ended up sitting deep when we went 1 up. Players like Youri & Barnes were running through treacle after 15 mins. Our squad was on it's last legs around that time with injuries mounting up and several players knackered.
