We used to do that in 19/20. Games against Newcastle, West Ham, Villa, Southampton etc where we took the lead and went on to totally annihilate them. We were so ruthless. I just want that team back.

aesthetically it was pleasing definitely but it wasn't sustainable. We probably lost rhythm and burned out faster because of that. If it means we win more longer term i prefer to be more careful in general.

Mind games I reckon.

I can't stand Arsenal. Hoping we can atone for that awful home performance against them last season.

Agreed. It'd be pretty desperate but I thibk Arteta is exactly that. Despite the upturn in form, he's only ever a few games away from huge pressure. This kind of vagueness will suit him.

We really should be beating these bastards every game now.

You're right.

What a time to be alive.

Arteta said Ben White not been training since there game against Leeds - although in the video of them training this week he is training...

I think Arteta is trying to be all 'Pep' with weird mind games :D

In the long history of matches between us and Arsenal we have rarely dominated them. On current form and with Jonny back the most predictable result is a draw. Auba and Lacazette remain very dangerous players so  this will be an excellent guide to our defensive game going forward. If we can stop them scoring it will be a big plus.

Benjamin White (as he is insisting on being called!) starting would play to our strengths as his positioning is shocking, Vardy (or Daka) would find space behind him.

He likes to play a bit doesn't he. If we can press well and catch him out of position then whoever gets the nod out of Vardy, Daka, Iheanacho, Barnes, Lookman and Maddison should have a field day with that.

I worry about Lacazette, Aubameyang and Saka showing form now, as well as Smith Rowe and Odegaard being dangerous players (and Pepe when he wants to be). Under sustained pressure, I worry for Cags but hopefully with Evans on the pitch he'll be alright.

Both teams have shown recently that they can play with tempo so if both turn up for the occasion it should be a decent game, if a bit stressful.

The game is live on talkSPORT (commentary from Clive Tyldesley and Trevor Sinclair) for those who aren't watching on telly or a stream.

For the build up, we've put together a feature on Vichai's legacy, the charitable work etc.

Heskey and Lineker and others discuss what the owners have done for the community.

Lineker seems to be a lot more involved with the owners/the club these days?

I'll be at the match but will there be somewhere to listen to this available?

Bringing Ricardo on the other night rather than Castagne (I think they were both on the bench) was a bit risky. Would prefer Thomas at left wing back but he had a nightmare against Pepe last season.

So it's going to be Ryan Bertrand then at left wing back, oh good god.

More likely to be thomas surely?

Rodgers tends to prefer Bertrand in his PL squad and I wonder if Thomas's uncomfortable game vs Pepe last season will further convince Rodgers to play Bertrand? High time he had a good game for us, has been very poor so far.
