Probably be close to sub zero in the second half…. So you can guarantee if things aren’t going well people are going to get pissed of sharpish lol

Sub-zero? With our defence?! Naaah. It’ll be at least 2 or 3 👍

I'll be there loud & proud! Hope we perform better than that shambles I witnessed against chelski. Came all the way home to Lester to be watching these games live. Will be well mad if the players don't turn up again and win this flipping game. If we can't beat struggling Warsaw at home then forget waiting for the watford game. Might as well not bother for that. Sort it out Rogers and players your mean to to be professionals ffs!

They will come with 11 men behind the ball from the off and try to frustrate us at every opportunity. An early goal would be crucial for us as it would get the fans onside and settle us down and mean they would have to let a few players venture out of their penalty area. These are a terrible side, so even with our poor form, there is zero excuses for not putting these away. Whilst I crave a good performance as we haven't seen many of late, I'll take a shite 1-0 win

Agreed. I watched the Liverpool v Arsenal gme on Saturday night and it was all pretty flat (atmosphere and game) until Klopp and Arteta had a go at each other on the touchline. It seemed to bring the game to life.

It's normally a dreadful referee that gets our fans going - although Saturday may show that no longer to be the case.

Rainieri used to do what Conte did yesterday - urge the crowd to be more vocal when it went quiet. Brendan could do himself a lot of good by following suit because its a way of saying ”You matter, you can change things..” - a good way to mend fences. I can also think of times when the sound suddenly picked up for no real reason and you could see the players responding.

Maybe Brendan could jot that down in his notepad as a reminder.

Good idea. He could then give it to someone in the crowd and ask them to pass it on.:D

He'd be doing it all game then.

Can you really imagine the manager trying to get the crowd going as we make the 467th pass along the back line.

Idiocy.

Do you really think they pass along the back line as a matter of tactical intention? I have criticisms of BR but I certainly don’t think that.
Those passes are the direct result of a loss of confidence. A pass forward might appear, the under confident defender hesitates to make it and the chance disappears. As the press comes down on him he passes sideways to someone else who does the same.

And if you want an example of how a tiny hesitation can undermine a team look at the offside Lookman goal on Saturday. If Albrighton delivers an identical cross first time it’s a goal, but he takes a tiny momentary touch before crossing and Lookman runs offside.

So if crowd encouragement and positivity and noise helps the defenders be bolder with their passing it could actually help solve the problem. I really don’t see the point in spending all that money going to matches and by being sullen and negative and quiet you make it more difficult for your team to win. None of which rules out critical discussion of the manager and his tactics.

The fans are pissed off with what they are seeing on the pitch. The manager failing to address the same problem over and over again.

What do you really think the reaction will be to BR telling the crowd what to do in this current situation? I want to see him do his ****ing job first and stop burying his head in the sand.

And for the record I don't need the manager to tell me to be vocal.

Well  if they have any sense they’ll be pleased he’s showing some passion , acknowledging the fans matter and doing everything he can to get the team going…

neither do I but a lot of people need encouragement- as was evident in the Raniera era - which lets not forget was hardly an inglorious one…

Oh look, KP atmosphere debate part 3,453.

The KP is quiet. Screaming into the void to GET BEHIND THE LADS when roughly 27,000 will sit quietly or groan is just folly, but if that's what you want to do then fine. Our crowd, like a lot of crowds, feed off what's happening on the pitch. It generally always has unless it's a huge game of significance (and even then...)

It's been like this since forever, save for notable exceptions of 15/16 and the latter end of 14/15, It was in the Championship, League One, at Filbert Street. It's always been this way.

That's not to say I don't want it to be another way. I do, but this tired old debate just goes round and round in circles. UFS have done something tangibly about it consistently over the last few years.

An ageing, more middle class fanbase that's used to being quiet, sitting down. A fanbase that I'd argue has a mixture of PL fatigue and overblown expectations. It's not conducive to the environment most of us want.

The really frustrating thing is the debate does go around and around in circles and the only body who can facilitate real sustainable long term change is the club themselves. They can change the culture of the support but as it is now it really is only going one way.

I know I do most likely sound like a stuck record but if you think it is bad now that current design of the expansion will be a hammer blow to atmosphere.

Was there any feedback from the club following the Brighton cup game?

This is my fear about the expansion. The club need to recognise that a 'singing section' (cringey name) like United have is needed and it needs to be near the away fans imo. Families and kids near the away fans who mostly will give pelters all game never made sense to me anyway but the club are really going to have to face the consequences of a bad atmosphere if they don't take action. The forced family image with the clappers and only posting people with blue face paint on twitter is horrendously backfiring at the moment but they don't seem to see it at all.

Why do you say that mate ? Why do you think the expansion will be "a hammer blow to atmosphere" ?

Because looking at that arch ending right over SK1 it further isolates the singers at the back there. Plus the boxes and posh seats above L1 I think could mean a clamp down there too.

Problem is there's no motivation for that. The club, like other football teams, know generally what they want. People to pay the high ticket prices, turn up (early), preferably with kids, buy merch and food, enter the stands and sit down to watch the game and cause no fuss whatsoever.

There is no financial gain to helping improve the atmosphere (could argue about positive effect towards on-pitch performance, but let's ignore that for now.) Maybe if we got relegated again, crowds dipped low and they needed to bring back the pie-and-pint deals they might do, but like you said, that isn't likely.

They've shown their disdain for individual fans by moving them, not letting them sit where they want because they "isolate seats." They can come out with "incredible support" with a straight face because we're at 99% capacity for PL games and offering platitudes is what matters. There's not even been a hint that they're interested in rail seating, either, while West Ham, Man City, Spurs and the rest steam away with the concept. Meanwhile they've beefed up their corporate offering now with multiple packages and experiences for the discerning fan on home games.

Corporate is not to be sniffed at by any means, it pays the bills and there's demand, but it'd be nice to see some investment in the atmosphere. A fully formed, dedicated area with rail seating that can lead the way. We know the areas of the stadium that are, and always will be stoney silent, but having a (potentially ever growing) pocket of fans making noise in their own space would be a positive step.

Unfortunately we are going to be back here in a few months time, perhaps the Norwich home game on NYD. 3pm kick off after many fans will have enjoyed quite the NYE party.
