Thomas has to focus on defending because he knows Barnes doesn’t track back effectively or help. Defensively Barnes goes through the motions, pretends to track back but doesn’t really involve himself, even his body position seems to help the opponent.

Yes, harsh to single out Thomas in fairness, as whoever is behind Barnes, needs to be a solid defender. We almost need a Danny Simpson type defender behind him.

He wouldn’t be in the dressing room patting the players on the back, and telling them everything is going to be ok, which I expect is what BR is doing.

Need someone to bowl in there and start slapping.

Agreed

He can’t organise his defence, which by the way he is part of. Keepers should never be captains, never.

he doesn’t get a choice on wether Amartey plays or  cags or if it’s 4 or five st the back, or wether we play zonal or anything like that. I’d trust a goalkeeper manager to get the defense organized better than I would most other former players.

we might never have another shot on goal in our whole life lol  but we’d certainly concede less.

Horrible horrible football. No care or confidence in any department (except perhaps Maddison). Two wasteful wingers. Two midfielders who obviously can’t play together. The usual shitshow in defence. Sort it out, Rodgers, because this is a million miles away from what this team is capable of.

Ah! but Maddison's confidence is somewhat misplaced

We have one in Ryan Bertand 🤷‍♂️

Definition of craziness:

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to get a different result

That’s Rodgers at the moment I’m afraid. Sticking with zonal marking on set pieces and sticking with Soumare in the central midfield

Statistically it's worse.

Maybe similar but not worse.for all Rodgers faults this season I wouldn't swap him for Claude ****ing Puel.

On another note watching the snooker, instead now, sod Leicester come on Kyren Wilson

I'm sorry, elite coaches do not allow pretty much the same goal to be conceded every single week. We are not good enough to win 4-2/ 4-3 each week.

1 clean sheet in the league and Europe this season (19 games) is shocking, truly awful.

Look it’s not been an issue since we came in so just leave it out alright !!!

What annoys me is that in pre-match interviews Rodgers pushes this honest persona where he'll tell reporters who's injured and basically read them the team sheet on a Thursday.

Post-match he's  just void of any criticism of either himself or the team for shower after shower after shower of shite.

If he came out and said "the players need to get their act together" or "I really need to reflect on my performance" I'd be instantly behind him. I'm just sick of the same robotic rubbish I hear time after time after time...

I can hear him now in the post match Southampton conference and it's  stressing me out thinking about it!

BR is not an elite coach

It’s got nothing to do with zonal marking on the second phase. All about bollocks and desire. Lookman poor clearance. Only Evans spots the wider player and then there’s no pressure on the ball. Then Castagne and Cags show zero desire to get to that cross

That's true also, but if you haven't got players with bollocks and desire you need to give them clear responsibilities so it's clear whose fault it is if a goal goes in. Right now no individual is accepting responsibility.
