Surely we won't be risking many of our remaining first teamers today. Considering how the season is going it would be ridiculous to play Youri, Madders or Barnes. Id probably even stretch to Vestergaard given he's our only fit cb.

This is going to come down to individual performances. It's an opportunity for someone to step up and show they are better  Brendan believes.

 

Ward and Youri to shine and Perez to redeem himself.

Ward will get a game, was supposed to play the QF vs Liverpool bit got covid very last minute and that will have been gutting for him. As a penalty shootout maestro we'd probably have won as well!

However closely we match up in terms of individuals (i.e. both sides not featuring usual first team) surely Watford will have the more settled side who have trained specifically for this all week and worked on shape etc whereas for us there will be combinations and partnerships we've never used before with the late withdrawals, all very mix and match . Need to make home advantage count and have enough decent pro's in Albrighton and...well Albrighton won't let it fall apart into a shambles, Lookman if used is sharp enough to nick a goal or two and Hamza can be seen as a more senior player than usual and show some leadership and character at the heart of the side .

Really good debate about not risking Barnes, Tielemans, Madison etc, tough call, maybe have on bench and try for the result without them if possible?

I'm sure any of the young lads given a go will play their heart out.  It will be a great experience for them and exciting for us to see them for the first time.

Out of interest, who is going to play? Are you suggesting we just play a whole 11 of u23's? Never going to happen.

I'm sure there will be a lot of discussions going on about who starts with so many out injured.

A lot will depend on whether we have any covid cases and whether the chance of getting the Everton match called off is high or low.
