I've read many suggestions that we haven't been making any effort to move players out either. How wrong that was and equally perhaps wrong about incomings. Who knows :dunno:

I think they will have waited to see what MC wanted, which players are committed and now he has had time I think he may have worked out and also spoken to all players  MC could have signed off on sales - here’s hoping anyway !

Yes true, I’m not necessarily suggesting that we won’t have any incomings though just that I don’t have confidence that they will be the right incomings based on recent experience but like I said I would love to be proved wrong

We still currently have a first team squad of over 30 players. Marti has said that he likes to work with around 25.

 

That's 5 still to go before we can think about adding to the numbers.

No we don't. We have 23 and a bunch of academy players that have been training with the first team but only like 2/3 of them have actually played in the first team.

Wouldn't have thought that Souttar will get registered in the 25 man squad as it's reported that he will miss at least half a season. If the rumoured transfers of Faes, Justin and El Khannouss go ahead (and others?) then Cifuentes will get his wish for a small squad.

 I agree with you. I've left a brief summary in your quoted message which is probably a fair opinion on that player by the fans, whether they're rated or wanted. When you look at it that way it's a really depressing list. Yes we need to trim the squad however we need to trim it a lot to the extent where we bring maybe a handful in. Not trim it but sign no one

Those academy players are being used in first team games and they're training with the first team squad.

 

If it walks like a duck ect.

 

You have to count them as well, as the entire point is about keeping the numbers training with the manager down.

 

So Monga, Page and Aluko all definitely count. If the others are training with them and potentially in contention for game time, then they count as well. If the ones you mentioned are training, and then there's Silko Thomas too.

 

Then that's 30.

 

We need to get more players out.

You really don't! Why do we swallow this crap. We do not have a bloated squad ffs. It's the clubs choice to promote youth, and how many. Just cherry pick one or two good ones and put the rest in PL2/u23s

Threadbare quality wise in the positions needed. If we sell BEK as well as Mcateer we have 3 wingers 1 gets injured we are in trouble. We sell feas as well as coady we only have 3 cbs which doesn’t allow for flexibility of formation and if one gets injured we are in trouble we still have no striker

The only position that we are overloaded is full back. IMO we could afford to lose Woyo and either Justin or Kristensen before replacing any.

 

As things stand we need a centre mid and centre forward. After that it’s one in one out.

The glaring weakness is CM, ACM (when Bilal goes) and striker. We should have enough in defence. 

 

CM is my most concern. soumare is lazy and plays like he's smoked something before games, Winks is a grumpy bum but at least he tries when he plays and Skipp is just, well, nothing. 

 

We need a box to box midfielder who can score goals and a proven striker at this level. Shame both cost money but there has to be a loan to be had...he says hopefully.

 

Who would have thought there would be a season where we are outspent by Wrexham a few years ago

Josh Brownhill is a free agent. Wages could be a problem maybe, but he fits the bill as a proven box to box scoring midfielder.
