Making me hate football ⚽️ Football is all about paper pushing and not decided on the pitch. Football is dying and its getting worse. The enjoyment being sucked out of it because of money. 9 1

Making me hate football ⚽️ It's not even subtle is it? It's killing the competition dead. I'm sure this has been allowed to happen as a sweetener for the 'top clubs' following the failed European Super League. 2

"We dont want another Leicester". This wasn't brought in to save little teams. It was brought in to shut up shop. I don't know if it's Leicester that has a lot to answer for thanks to 2015/16. I think it's the Premier League and football collectively. All clubs have sleep-walked into their own pigeon-holing at a certain level. Even the likes of Newcastle and Villa have had to reluctantly sell some of their better home-grown players who got/would get into their sides in the Champions League in order to satisfy PSR. Villa - with their wage expenditure currently at 96% of their turnover - are firmly on the Leicester highway towards the bottom reaches of the Premier League and possibly beyond. They'll have to cut their cloth and sign cheaper players and offer less wages and, when Emery decides he's had enough, they could easily plummet. 'We don't want another Leicester' isn't our fault, I think. Football could have encouraged a more egalitarian league where more teams could win the division and it be more exciting as teams rise and fall and rise again. But it didn't in the belief that the league only does well if its elite does well. It's football's governance that has ****ed it. 4
Lambert09 Posted 20 August 2025 Posted 20 August 2025 (edited) Sell bilal for 32, buy hackney for 15. Who says no? Get some loans with obligation to buys for a striker and a 10 and we’re back Edited 20 August 2025 by Lambert09 1

JimJams Posted 20 August 2025 Posted 20 August 2025 Hackney would be a coup really. Boro supposedly accepted a £20mill offer from Ipswich but he didn't want to go. Presumably waiting on Premier League interest. Why the fxxk would he come here? 1

Don't do it to yourself. Just accept we're getting no one (decent, if at all).

LCFCCKEANO Posted 20 August 2025 Posted 20 August 2025 Later in the window imagine Hackney gets more likely to take a ‘lesser’ side, his prem opportunities all seem to have fallen through, similar to Brownhill, could see either going to Ipswich on deadline day
JimJams Posted 20 August 2025 Posted 20 August 2025 Seen links to Palace and Everton at £20mill. They're probably just prioritising a few others first.
honeybradger Posted 20 August 2025 Posted 20 August 2025 Unpopular opinion but isnt Hackney just a better version of Winks? We need a midfielder who can cover ground and win the ball back, not another lightweight player that specialises in passing.

In the same way that Samuel Eto'o was just a better version of Daka you mean?

He's pretty robust as a defensive minded midfielder as well as being able to get on the ball and create. I'd prefer Zeneli for about 1/4 the price mind you. 3

We won’t, so frustrating. We won’t be even looking until we have sort bilal and it will be too late. I hate king power with all my heart. 1

Hackney would be a very good player for us (and likely wouldnt come here) but with our limited funds I would still like us to go for a player that is a bit more focused on the defensive side of the game like that Zeneli guy Ric mentioned. 1

Sell Winks off as well and somehow get both 1

He hasn’t had any output before this season. Doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t do it but who knows if he’s just on a purple patch.
