I agree, I think Tarks is a far better defender than people think.

He's a multibillionaire. There is a huge difference between needing to prioritize capital to his bread and butter business due to Covid and being broke. The training ground cost a lot and he probably realizes there is no value this window. We are extremely unlikely to either go down or get into Europe this season so why overpay now instead of doing better value business in the summer by which time hopefully King Power will be doing better anyway and we will have a clearer picture on contracts.

100% he’s a decent defender and would probably sign a 4yr deal I’d love to see him here, not a big name Charlie or a dickhead just plays simple football with the right attitude.

Tarks is probably the main reason Burnley remain in the PL ,although Mee has been solid as well. My only problem is he wouldn't take any shit from Rodgers or his coaching staff as he knows his game and he is going to stick with it. How that would fit in with Rodgers's "preferred" game plan I wouldn't like to say.

I know we need a defender (probably several) but it doesn't mean we should avoid getting this guy if he's (a) one of our main targets and (b) we can get him now ahead of other clubs.

 

We don't want to compromise a deal like this for the sake of getting in another Vestergaard because there's no other bugger available in the centre of defence right now.

I agree Tarkowski is a really solid defender. But in our system they need to be more than that. With the high line we play they need to be fast, tarks isn’t and that’s one of the reasons vestergaard struggles. They also need to be able to dribble and pass out from the back. Tarkowski isn’t allowed to do this in the system he plays in so we can’t say for sure whether he’d be good enough for it.

 

I rate him, but I don’t think he’d be a great fit for us.

Where do you think Will Alves fits in Ric? Loaned out perhaps? Would love to see him get a chance with us but if we sign Lookman + all these other attacking players I can’t see Alves getting much game time. 


Maybe we won’t see him in the first team squad until 2024 when Albrighton’s contract expires and we need a replacement.

Tarkowski might not be fast, but he's a LOT more mobile than Vestergaard. And a smarter defender too. You can draw a lot of parallels between Tarkowski and Evans, who is also slower but has been stellar for us in our system, especially alongside a faster CB partner like Fofana, Soyuncu or Amartey.

 

He'd be a brilliant fit for us.

To be fair the guy might be in the know regarding French players, but to suggest he knows the number and positions we are targeting is a bit of stretch ! No way are we signing 3 ‘central’ midfielders (DM, CM, ACM) !

also keep in mind Jason Bourne knows absolutely nothing about LCFC and used to pick up scraps from Radio Leicester (who will open admit to knowing nothing these days)

We might not, but Tielemans & Mendy need replacing, and we might let Choudhury go too. So it’s not implausible.

what has he actually got right other than things that are pretty common knowledge? he is just another local reporter that took the cash to move down to London. 

 

Knowing a lot of people that know him personally i wouldn't hold on to anything he says too much.
