Is it a suprise though? We continually think we're fine due to players being about to return and them being 'like new signings' - only they never return ti the level and will get niggling injuries along the way, on top of many long term injuries.

And that in itself highlights the complete ignorance the club has around the ongoing injury problems. Still firmly think it they couldn't have been avoided but yet suddenly they won't occur again.

You're blinded if you think any club does that mid season lol

Writing it off maybe not but they'll have undoubtedly been conversations about whether extra investment now might be worth a European spot or they just hold and take what they get at the end of the season.

Personally think they're saving their money till the summer ad they know Europe is unlikely and a rebuild us required.

Are we in for Sarr from Chelsea?

Minor twitter rumour, but don't get your hopes up.

We won’t be signing anyone…

and will be relying on the Youri money in summer to strengthen..

Let's hope we don't blow that £40m all at once...

Risky not to bring another defender in when we're only an injury away from playing Vestergaard at CB and only have 1 fully fit full back. Saying that the last thing we want is another Bennett/Vestergaard disaster. Sounds like we tried for a couple of younger CBs on loan but clubs weren't budging

2 players I imagine… but ya right, it won’t be much more than that unfortunately

Looks like we're getting nobody. Another season has gone by without really strengthening at the mid-season point. For all the talk about finances maybe if the board had gambled a little bit we'd have been playing Champions League football and be better off.

I know the owners/board are sacred around here but 3 seasons in a row with no real strengthening at the mid-season point reeks of no ambition. With the injury problems we have and the season in dire need of saving its almost negligible that funds haven't been made available.

Other clubs have managed it with similar incomes and revenue/expenditure to us.

We need to hope he has plays a blinder end of season, gets a lot of wax lyrical from the pundits and media then 55m plus..

We are going to fall behind not only the top 6 but also West Ham, Villa and Newcastle. So realistically EL may be a struggle in future years..

Spending money on the training pitch and the ground development to come.. I think we have to take a couple of backward steps before we push on again..

just hope when we have the extra capacity we are able to fill it..

I keep seeing people saying we're cash strapped. Why are we?

Apart from the covid hit, we spent £55 million net in the summer. We get virtually nothing for our fringe players when we sell them and we have a very high wage bill.

I think this too. Given our success in recent years, you'd expect us to have a decent amount of money to spend without relying on player sales. But I guess its to do with the money tied into the stadium development and the training ground. I understand the need to be sensible and do think its the right way to go but its frustrating when we are not strengthening.

One CB in on loan. Probably Phil Jones.

I think we could do a lot worse. We already have worse playing for us.

Little to no money being made available by the owners, no sales to fund transfers, loans being taken out against future earnings to fund the expansion/seagrave, extremely high wage to turnover ratio.
