Fair enough, but would someone (obviously not you as you can't read this anymore) mind explaining why Gattuso holding an opinion officially sanctioned by the entire Catholic Church makes him unfit to manage us?

I hate to use a hypothetical to demonstrate my argument, but say we had the opportunity to sign a good right winger that fits the profile, left footed and a decent finisher. He happens to be a Muslim that said several years ago that he believes you cannot practice Islam as a gay person (having lived in the middle East, I promise you that this is a very popular opinion and very much backed by their holy scripture), but that he has nothing against gay people existing or doing whatever they please.

Would you be against signing such a player?

I don't know. My Italian grandmother, an elderly and devout Catholic woman, has said very similar to Gattuso in the past regarding church marriage, but she has absolutely no issues with gay people existing, in her family or otherwise. Should I demonise her and cut her out of my life for being homophobic?

Because as a club, we want to send a message of equal rights, fairness and be as inclusive to everyone as possible. Hiring a guy who doesn't believe that everyone should have the same rights is completely opposite to that. Wether it be gay folk being married in a church or women having a place in men's football.

How do you think our chief exec who happens to be a woman would feel about the appointment of a man who expressed opposition to a woman being a chief exec at Milan when he was there?

Each to their own as long as your respectful about it, eachother religion, culture and part of the world has their own norms for me it’s more about how things are said and meant

That's fair enough I guess. I would just be surprised if all our staff, playing, coaching and otherwise, held these beliefs, but the fact that Gattuso made his comments public does change things.

I would point out that his opposition to Barbara Berlusconi as chief exec at Milan had little to do with the fact that she was a woman and more to do with the fact that she had no idea what she was doing and was a symbol of Silvio Berlusconi's corruption at the club.

Think this quote from 2019 might be more indicative of his current opinions on women in football:

"Jokes aside", the coach continues seriously, "I talk to a coach three times a week, a very well prepared coach who is Carolina Morace (Milan women's coach, ed) and I can assure you that in the world we live in there are so so many women who understand football at its finest. When I talk to Carolina it is always a very open and interesting confrontation ”, continues Gattuso.

We might have fewer players performing half-heartedly on the pitch if they knew they'd encounter that when they returned to the dressing room.......

Can we get him in for 3 months just to absolutely scare the bejeezers out of this team and build up that bite that we lack... but then bring in an astute coach for the season
