i’m surprised one of the newly promoted sides isn’t banging the doors down with a 10m offer. You won’t find a better player for that price.

Full belgian international. Premier league experience.

I guess it comes down to the fact he wants to be in Italy and that limits us dramatically. why does it never feel like we have power in these situations. Is it because the clubs know we simply can’t afford to carry these wages around whereas other clubs like the entitled six could easily say, do one and not worry too much?

I think his wages would likely be a stumbling block for a lot of the newly promoted sides. If the rumours are true at c. £80k per week he would instantly become one of if not the best payed player for a 28 year old with a patchy injury record over the last couple of years, and some one who hasn’t exactly lit up the premier league. Would blow their wage structure, and would still represent a decent outlay at that price would be my guess.

Also the player may not be interested anyway at moving to a bottom half English club so becomes a non-starter for them anyway.

I think the last part is probably what’s right. I can’t imagine torino will pay him anything near 80k either

When he joined us he drove a very hard bargain and I don't blame him. We have two choices , lose a lot of money or recall him and use him properly.

Supposedly about £40k-ish after tax is what they are looking to pay him

Which is about the same as he gets from us after tax

He’s good enough to be a starter for us, that’s not the issue.   The issue is that the manager has decided he won’t use him.

Presumably because he doesn't think he's good enough to be a starter for us rather than because of some personal vendetta. I'd be happy to keep him around as a squad player and I suspect Rodgers probably would too. He obviously wants more than that and fair play to him but I don't think it's a massive coincidence that Sampdoria and Torino, the two teams where he's managed to establish himself as a consistent starter since leaving Anderlecht, are unequivocally mid-table sides.

Who does he start instead off in a 4 3 3 or 4 2 3 1 out of interest?

....I would say that the poster believes that he could come in for Youri, should Youri not be available!!!

His ability to deputise in the midfield is something that has happened previously, and at present with Youri's inconsistent performances, he could work much better as a #8, alongside KDH.

I agree with that but that means the statement "he's good enough to be a starter" isn't really true. It means he's a good enough to be a quality squad player which Dennis wasn't happy with.

Sampdoria (who we signed him from) are interested

Club make Leicester player their ‘dream’ signing – Foxes have put him ‘up for sale’, money up front

Sampdoria have made Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet their ‘dream’ signing this summer and are ‘thinking of bidding’ for him.

That’s according to Il Secolo XIX, relayed by Samp News 24, who say Torino are also involved in the race for the midfielder’s signature.

Praet has spent this past season on loan with Torino after it was made clear he was not a part of Brendan Rodgers plans for the campaign.

He went on to make 24 appearances in all competitions for the Italian club and has been linked with a permanent move there this summer as a result.

Former club Sampdoria are also keen, though, with Il Secolo XIX reporting that he is the club’s ‘market dream’ for this window.

Lawyer Antonio Romei, who is in charge of negotiations alongside president Marco Lana, is ‘thinking about’ a move, but the road is not an easy one.

There is competition from Torino, who also want to sign the midfielder from Leicester after he spent the season on loan with them.

Indeed, manager Ivan Juric has specifically asked president Urbano Cairo to sign him on a permanent basis.

Leicester are more than happy to sell and have even put the Belgian midfielder ‘up for sale’, but will only accept €12m and are insisting there will be ‘no deferred payment’ in any deal.

Minamino is the latest one. Bought for £7m, handful of Premier League starts, only scores 3 goals but now for sale at £17m. Most clubs that would be a failure and a loan/free transfer. Must be a premium added for having Liverpool on a CV.

in fairness when he plays he seems to score. If lookman is 14 and he was 17 i’d certainly want to have a good think about whether he could work.

probably some value to be had their for someone.

it’s not quite so simple as he has 3 (now 4) of the best players in the league in front of him

...it is hard to believe that Sampdoria would see Praet as their number one target!!!

Back in the day, in comparison to the Premier League, they would be "Arsenal" in the hierarchy. It seems a major decline for them.

More or less certain that Dennis will be back unless he goes on loan with us paying his wages again. Callum Wright and George Hirst also returning , Rodgers will have more options.

I would tell Torino to feck off.  The amount they are alleged to be offering us is way below the 15m previously mentioned.  They are taking the p**s. Knock them back and see how much they want him.

The question is does Dennis want to be back here??????????????????????

as that is a swipe aimed at Rodgers lets use a different player, different manager & different club....

"Ousmane Dembele is reportedly keen on moving to Chelsea this summer, but wants assurances from Thomas Tuchel before he agrees to a deal at Stamford Bridge."

That assurance is...
"that he will be a Chelsea starter and not subject to strict squad rotation, That has been the case at Stamford Bridge since Tuchel’s arrival, with Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner among those vying for the forward positions

Do you think this is right?
