Napoli could be in for a big summer this year with possibly a lot of money available for them to spend with interest in quite a few of their big players

Napoli move into picture to sign Leicester City player – Could be good development for Foxes

Leicester City’s Dennis Praet is currently on a season-long loan deal at Torino, and they have an option to make his stay permanent for €15m.

The Serie A side are keen to retain the midfielder, but not by paying €15m to the Foxes.

They instead want to extend his loan deal for one more season with a redemption clause set at €10m instead of €15m. The Turin club have so far failed to convince Leicester City over another loan deal.

That’s according to Area Napoli, who add the Italian club are ‘having problems finding an agreement’ with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Leicester plan to raise funds from the 28-year-old’s sale this summer and the player also ‘wants to stay’ in Italy.

Napoli have now taken note of Praet’s situation and ‘could test the ground’ if Torino and Leicester fail to find an agreement.

Luciano Spalletti has rated Praet ‘for years’ and ‘would appreciate his versatility’. Therefore, the coach would ‘not disdain’ from including in the player in his squad. It’s to be noted Praet is not the only midfielder currently monitored by the Naples club.

I like Praet as a player but he offers no more than KDH and isn’t what we need for next season. Crucial we get someone in to pull the strings and unlock defences. Reality is we we need to sell to buy and Praet can help with that. He seems to prefer Italy to Leicester also - go figure ;D

Also Brendan clearly doesn’t trust him and there is no point him warming the bench.

Sell. Reinvest. Move on.

“The boy wants to know” – Agent pleads with Leicester to let client know their plans for him

Sent on loan to Torino last summer for the season, Leicester City’s Dennis Praet earned himself rave reviews in Italy when he was fit enough to play.

That’s why Ivan Juric would ideally like to keep the Belgian around, but his injury record has placed some doubt in the Serie A side as to whether paying the pre-agreed €15m was worth it.

In the meantime, other clubs, like Napoli, have come sniffing around for a potential bargain, but a lot will depend on Leicester themselves.

The midfielder is still contracted to the Foxes until 2024, meaning a new loan could be on the cards, but his agent, Martin Riha, still doesn’t know what will happen.

Speaking to Area Napoli, the representative was rather candid when it came to the Leicester player’s future.

He said: “The question is very simple: Torino had an option to buy him and didn’t exercise it. Right now, we have to wait and see what happens. Serie A has just ended… We are still in contact with Torino, but we have to wait and, of course, we have to understand what Leicester want to do.

“We have registered interest from some teams, from Torino and also from other Italian clubs. In the past, we have been in contact with Napoli, but now, honestly, I cannot say what will happen in the future of Dennis. Everything could speed up in a few days or weeks, because the boy wants to know where he will have to start pre-season: it’s a very important step to find a solution in view of next season.”

Riha then went on to say that Praet ‘would love to stay’ in Serie A if he could, because his family are happy in Italy, but it all depends on Leicester.

He added: “We don’t know what the English club wants to do and we would like to know what to expect for the new season.”

Praet made 24 appearances in all competitions for Torino, scoring two goals and assisting another two.

Dennis is a good player and has the CV to prove it. His failure with us ,so far, is purely down to Rodgers and his sometimes unfathomable midfield tactics.

I agree. I’d like to keep him. But Brendan won’t.

I agree that Praet cannot do what Tielemans can , they are different footballers. However what Dennis can do should have been made better use of. Industrious hard working players are needed in every team. We have flair players but KDH has shown us that a 100% committed player can lift a team by example.

So if we had Ndidi, Tielemans, KDH and Maddison all fit who are you leaving out? Ok, Tielemans might be gone soon, but you’ve already accepted he can’t play that role.

The closest match is probably KDH. Of the two I’d go with KDH as he’s younger and his potential stretch is greater. So Praet is on the bench or rotated into the side when KDH or others need a rest.

If he’s prepared to play that role, then fine, we should keep him as a useful option, but all indications are that he’s not. He’s being used exactly how he should be used - as a squad player - he’s not failed, he’s not being mismanaged - that’s what he is

He's a good player that doesn't fit our system.

Wherever he ends up they'll get a good player at a cheap price.

It hasn't worked here though.

Either that or we change our system which has been dull, dire and flawed. That's not going to happen under Rodgers though because he'll just stick with it whatever the consequences.

He'd do fine in a diamond formation with Ndidi sitting in front of the defence and KDH on the left, with Praet on the right and Maddison playing CAM. This will allow us to play 2 strikers, which would help Daka and Nacho. That's a formation that Rodgers has tried but Youri hasn't the energy to play that box to box role. If he leaves though, we're not beholden to the 4231 system. Considering the club have stated they are looking for a box to box midfielder this summer, I'm not sure why we dont try Praet. €15M is only around £12.5M, you cant even get a decent Championship player for that much, let alone a Belgian international.

...the Praet argument will go on until he finally leaves!!!

If your manager does not see you as someone he can work with, then it is pointless speculating, as to how he will fit into this team.
