Do people really think we'll be making changes for this? I think it will be the same 11 considering there's 5 full days recovery between the games.

Wholesale changes v Palace.

Let’s get the KP rocking on Thursday night! I’ll be doing whatever I have to do to back the lads.

I wonder if Fofanna will be able to break his fast just before KO which should help him. I felt sorry for him having to play yesterday. God knows how anyone can perform at their best without food let alone water.

I could see Amartey and Soyuncu playing. They have played well together and are fully fit. Evans and Fofana for the return leg. Perhaps we will see Fofana but I don't think we should be rushing all these players back when the previous pairing have played in a number of good performances recently. This tie won't be determined til the second leg as both teams are evenly matched.

Mendy is unavailable, but I don't think Rodgers will play Soumare. He could go for Hamza, but I think we will play 4231 instead of 433 and have Albrighton come in at RW so we have a double pivot of KDH and Tielemans, with Maddison as a 10. PSV play the samey way so we would match up against them. I can also see Ricardo coming in for JJ.

The real challenge is midfield, without Ndidi and Mendy. I’m sure Rodgers doesn’t trust Choudhury positionally (rightly) so can see a KDH/Soumare double pivot.

I think his only change will be moving Maddison central and bringing in Ricardo or Albrighton to play on the right. With injuries in defence clearing up and players in good form he'll keep it as close as possible to Saturday's team. Palace will be about 6 or 7 changes, probably Amartey & Soyuncu coming in, Mendy back, Daka up top etc.

I'm with @StriderHiryu and others, play KDH as the holder, which will allow Maddison to play in his natural role. We can play the more defensive Albrighton on the wing to help the backline when necessary.

It's a bit of a risk but KDH loves a tackle and is good at blocking off passing lanes. We can always bring on Hamza later on in the match if they're cutting through us.

I think there'll be a few changes, can well see him going Soyuncu, Fofana and Amartey in a back 3 without Mendy. I keep going through what midfield we play if we go with what I'd prefer, a back 4 and it's so uncertain.

Soumare surely can't be a consideration, so it's either Hamza or KDH and Tielemans in a double pivot with Maddison moving in to the centre and Albrighton or Ricardo adding a bit more solidity on the right.

Maddison Iheanacho

Barnes/Lookman Dewsbury-Hall Tielemans Albrighton

Justin/Castagne Soyuncu Amartey Ricardo

Only would consider starting Lookman for his improvement on Barnes in the defensive side of the game, considering that the midfield is conspicuously absent a DM.

Barnes defensive work vs Rennes was one of the biggest plus points of the 2 games. He was all over the place, it proves he can do it when he puts his mind to it.

Yeah that was very promising and hopefully if he starts we will see that from him again. Would want him rested unequivocally against Palace if he did start though.

Yes agreed, I really hope this Lookman rumour about us owing Leipzig either a bigger loan fee if he starts one more game or that it becomes an obligation to buy (surely not) as this causes more burden on Barnes, stick Alves in f needs be 😉

Yeah definitely hope it's just Rodgers being a bit weird and Lookman gets used between now and the run in.

If he doesn't play him and we opt not to sign him, I do wonder what the knock on effect would be to future loan signings. That would be Ünder and Lookman that we just ignore completely in the last third of the season. Why would you come here?

Puts further pressure on maximising our finances to carry out this rebuild.

I do worry we will go 3 at the back without Ndidi or Mendy. And with Fofana back. But think he may resist for this for this one and put faith in a Tielemans and Dewsbury-hall 2. And Maddison in front of them. Albrighton back on the right.

I reckon he will probably bring Ricardo, Amartey and Soyuncu all back in too. With Evans and Fofana playing the palace game..

Without Mendy and sticking with a back 4, I really think Fofana HAS to play due to his aerial ability and defending on the front foot but it's a risk for him to start again.

Bit risky to go with no recognised full backs against a team with excellent wingers.....

If you're not willing to play Evans and Fofana twice in 5 days - which is certainly a defensible decision - why would you burn them against Man U.?  Isn't this the more important match?

If those guys are rested, I think one of two things must be true - either Rodgers is still prioritizing the league or he doesn't consider those two his best central defenders (yet).

Looks like only a few hundred tickets left . I think the club will be pleased that they managed to shift thousands in general sale .

Hopefully it shows that if people can get in the habit of going and don't think  every game is sold out . We should get well north of 35k after expansion for most games

Thought we had an issue with interest in the game????? No chance we should be expanding......

They were the most fit out of the options we had. Soyuncu, Amartey, Vestergaard all started twice during the international break.

Rodgers said after the game on Saturday he'd prefer to start Evans and fofana on Thursday and rest them Ln Sunday.
