I get what you’re saying but this sort of thing happens all the time for big concerts where ticket sales are lagging.

The club clearly didn’t mean to release thousands of tickets at such a discounted rate but it happened.

In a few years, the club will have to sell thousands of extra tickets and are already having enough trouble filling the ground for a European quarterfinal. Granted, this was a bit of a fuchs up but they have to start figuring out how to expand the base of match-going supporters.

But I don’t see how this does that? Because the way the club operates a membership systems to League fixtures.

And demand based pricing isn’t really a thing here in the same way it is the USA.
I want to see Foals at Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham at the end of April and that £47 ain’t altered an inch despite not being sold out now for three months.

I’m not saying it’s the best way to do it but this is a way to incent people to the ground who would have difficulty getting league tickets with the hope that the more they go, the more they will consider ponying up for a season ticket or membership in the future.

But why not just release the tickets in the first place at £15? And do some marketing rather than piggybacking on a scheme which will be low numbers at best?

In the process they’ve alienated a load of regular match going fans.

I don’t really get the strategy from a club which was in the Deloitte Money League last week.

Thinking it through the link with the Cool As card could have been a reduced membership - then those very targeted people you talk have access not just to one game but multiple games. In the process you gain more money via they attending a variety of games rather than two or three.

How is it pointless when we sell out every single prem game.

The only time we dont fill the stadium is the early cup ties and that goes for

every team in the prem.

We said that in 97 when we couldn't sell out for a League Cup semi.

Build it and they will come, especially as it means they'll be able to add a couple of thousand STHs

It’s got lots to offer to Leicester folks.

But if what’s happened is they’ve been able to offer paid card holders a 50% discount then that’s not so cool…

Could be a genius bit of marketing from Cool As Leicester now 20,000 Leicester fans start trying to figure out what they are because of this lol

Only if they price it right.
The years ahead everyone will feel this financial squeeze, is we break £45 tickets I just can’t see folk paying it.

Let's not get facts in the way of a good narrative..

Can't remember the last time season ticket prices rose either.

I've just been back to look at the thread, less than 12 months ago most we're praising the club for not raising prices despite the pandemic. I don't see how you'd expect a greater than 50% price increase in a year or so, there's no evidence for it.

King Power stadium has been the fullest in recent times. It's got more need to expand than any other.

I thought for European games season ticket holders didn’t have their seats guaranteed? Therefore there isn’t really an argument for fans moaning about not having their usual seat.

Especially for a competition we were never even in to start with.

Especially when tickets go on sale to ST holders first. It's only a section that gets designated as something different so it's not like there are going to be tens of thousands of complaints

Is this a massive injustice or a discount code for a few people for a few games a season?

Cool As gets people through the doors of local businesses, including Leicester City Football Club. They’ve also spent a lot of time promoting LCFC recently. Through partnering with them, the club may also gain connections with other local businesses.

Like I said, this might not be the most best way to build the base but it’s something.

Leicester is a one-club city where the only club in town has historically to fight against the Liverpools of the country because the demographics in the stands haven’t always matched the diversity of the city.

The tickets have to move somehow and the club are trying different approaches, which is needed if they want to reflect the makeup of the city in the stands.

If only they could do more to make it more accessible for those people…

Indeed, there are plenty of other (and more obvious) approaches.

In my opinion yes. I don’t like fellow supporters losing out on approx £30 (effectively the cost of 1 PL ticket). Particularly at a time of financial squeeze. Even more so members who shell out a decent sum directly to the club without knowledge of how many games that entitles them to see every season.

The demographics you describe won’t be affected by this. The code was gained by buying a subscription card charged at £20 which is targeted at wealthy people capable of eating out on a regular basis to make that card value for money.

The average family in Leicester are not going to own a Cool as Leicester card. There are better, transparent ways to achieve this but the club at this level appear to have very ‘middle class’ ideas about how to do so.

Go look at our match day prices.

Some already over the price I mentioned. It’s known they are going up so not really sure there is a good narrative going in.

You really think this financial crush will still see people paying top top whack?

Yes I do actually. There's zero evidence demand is going away and in many instances it suggests its going up.

I realise some people absolutely have it in for the club but on any metric they've kept pricing pretty sensible and absorbed a lot of costs. I'm not sure this argument washes but i guess people need some other stick to bash the club with.

Additionally those tickets over 35 quid are in the weller suite, which doesn't represent a price rise.

Fair enough we differ on what we think Leicester folk can afford.

In the past I've paid for games and on the day couldn't be arsed to go, so I'm really not too annoyed that the club have sold some tickets on the sly on the cheap, it's still an absolute punishment having to watch us anyway, half price or full price 😂😂

I know lots of people who want season tickets and can't get one.

Will not have a issue with PL games in my view.
