Given the crucial win-or-go-home second-leg away tie in the Europa Conference League QF coming up next week Thursday, some may be tempted to "fart away" this game against Palace (who handily beat Arsenal 3-0 this past Monday), and of course we have to be careful with players just returning from a long spell out with injury. Nonetheless, I think that we should try to maintain our recent relative 'resurgence' in form and try not to go to Eindhoven on the back of a poor result and/or performance.

Accordingly, I would suggest something like the following lineup:

Kasper

Justin

Amartey (Fofana)

Soyuncu (Evans)

Thomas

Mendy

Dewsbury-Hall

Tielemans (Maddison)

Albrighton

Daka (Nacho)

Lookman (Barnes)

Given Brendan, the lineup will likely bear little semblance to this.  lol

I suspect you might have 9 or 10 right there, including all of the defence & midfield.

If Perez is fit & training well - doubtful as he’s only back today- I could see him starting instead of Kevin. If not it could well be Maddison there.

Would hope that KDH & Youri aren’t overplayed…

I think if we lose this, we are also likely to lose to PSV...just a feeling though.

Agree. Can't pick and choose which game to turn up in. Play a strong team and feet up till Thursday.

KDH & Tielemans are fit sportsman, also mentality ( in their sport)  KDH hasnt played Anywhere near a Full season & has had breaks...

Tielemans has had in contrast to last Season a few more breaks...

Rotation is always in todays football a prudent move, when the squad availability allows, but in the same vein I wont go for the overplayed excuses in the Natural routine of a profi-team.

Though something similar to Tielemans last 2 seasons, brought together he would be a "possible" candidate..

I do believe, even with our issues, Rodgers has tried to find some sort of balance...

This is also where fans Fall Short in understanding the subs...& what /where any manager has to experience & find over time( Not done within a couple of weeks). that group balance,

It gets more complicated when you have long complicated injury issues...

What I See positive about our team/ individuals and manager they dont go out complaining or whining

compared to other clubs/managers with bigger squads & up front rescources...I

But I am missing from this forum player/club/manager encouragement and true support...

It seems we just want to always first Jump on the blame ,no excuses band wagon, & Not accept football ups & downs.Even the Basic mistakes are cynically chased down...

Sorry I Highjacked your post to go deeper...

That’s the major worry for me, I know we aren’t blessed with suitable replacements at the moment (Hamza & Bouba considerably poorer on the ball), but I think I would somehow drop one of KDH or Youri to the bench and maybe the other comes on for them after 55mins?

PSV has to be the priority, and I’m comfortable with whatever that means for a team selection tomorrow.

Fofana and Soyuncu as the two. Save Evans for Thursday.

Thomas and Pereira as full backs.

Mendy back in the side. KDH to be rested? I think Maddison and Youri need to play otherwise the creativity from the midfield isn't there.

Daka and Iheanacho to continue to be rotated perhaps. Lookman and Barnes either side.

It'll be a weaker squad but ECL is clearly the priority.

Looking forward to this now. No massive pressure to get a win so hope we go for it. Need some excitement after that mind numbingly Thursday night bore fest. Goals please, lots of them.

Probably the closest to selection. I think Barnes needs a rest though so would swap for Lookman (unless there is truth in this selection clause). Daka needs a start and I agree that KHD needs a rest.

Wouldn't mind if there was almost total rotation like:

Schmeichel

Justin Amartey Soyuncu Thomas

Soumare Choudhury KDH

Albrighton Daka Lookman

Probs would get dunked on but worth it if we progress in the cup.

I would go with similar to this but probably start lookman instead of albrighton if he needs to recuperate. PSV has to be the priority but I’d start this back four definitely. We don’t know exactly what condition the other players are In.  But go as strong as possible without risking the ability to put out a strongest eleven for PSV

That would be an interesting selection and the young players would be busting a gut to impress. However they do their level best but lose 1-3 . Result, the Rodgers thread goes red hot - yawn. Predictable isn't it.

Not for Palace - the kids will get bullied. Save that lineup for Norwich.

Yeah I'd never expect that in a league game yet, might be some merit in one of Braybrooke or Wanya Marca being in though as midfield and out wide there's several players that need a rest.

I'd be happy with this and its realistic too. Only difference being that BR doesnt seem to like Perez for some reason but we cpuld do without Albrighton playing the full 90.

....no not predictable!!!

The Rodgers thread goes hot when there are obvious mistakes made, in selection and tactics employed within the game. The "stay or leave" vote is reactionary as posters just want to express their anger at the time.

If Rodgers puts out a team where he has incorporated a development player or two to start a game, every supporter would be buzzing,  and hoping they had a good game, as it would probably be the first time they had a chance to see them. The flip flopping regarding the popularity of Rodgers is people changing their minds depending on results. There are diehard supporters, who do not see problems being addressed or any sense of tactical nous and feel that he can only take us so far, which is probably 25% of this forum.

I agree that response is often emotional and short term but so many stand on their heads on a weekly basis it just gets tiresome. This club has existed for over 140 years and been followed by my family for over 100 of those years. We are a strong and powerful club and that will remain the case for the foreseeable future long after Rodgers is a distant memory.

Palace are one of those teams that I always think of as a bogey side, which is kinda ridiculous I know. Sure, they've tonked us on a couple of recent-ish occasions but that was just a phase, no?

They always seem to turn it on against us, Zaha in particular and you know Schlupp will score being an ex-player

Thinking he'll go with something like this, which will allow us to rest 7 whilst still playing a strongish XI. Feel like we have to play Youri and Maddison for creativity and KDH for his energy.
