£200m or so in this calendar year isn't it?

What he's getting out of the likes of Almiron, Willock, Joelinton, Murphy, Longstaff etc. is seriously impressive. They have brought in quality like Trippier and Bruno, but he is getting a tune out of players who this time last year didn't look like they were anywhere near this level.

Newcastle deserve a big amount of praise but no doubt many of our fans will be irked by them as they are doing what we used to do under Rodgers in his first 2 years.

Not even spent that much money and the squad before Howe joined was mediocre so he really is maximising every ounce out of them right now and momentum is everything.

Will be interesting to see if they last the course where they then will seriously start spending.

Totally disagree with this and it shows sportswash when backed by money can really kick in quickly.

Newcastle have spent TWO HUNDRED MILLION in 12months on Pope, Targett, Burn, Botman, Trippier, Guimaraes, Wood, Isak.

Aswell as spending enormous money - the wages fot Pope, Botman, Guimaraes , Trippier and Isak made them join a nom top 6 club so the reality of the investment is way higher than £200m

They have also been able to hold on to Wilson and St Maximin

Granted Isak nd St Max have been injured but currently Howe has more members of the england squad than some top 6 clubs and world class internationals in schar, botman, guimaraes and isak in the squad. The £25m each spent on Wood and Willock then just gives great back up...

Good manager but lets not sugar coat it net investment is astronomical.

Looks like Nathan Jones will be getting the Southampton job 😳

Well deserved. Done a terrific job at Luton.

Obviously his stint at Stoke wasn't successful but I'm fairly sure the Stoke job is poisoned chalice given some decent managers have failed there recently.

I don't think he's getting much out of Murphy/Longstaff/Willock to be fair.

Almiron has been a revelation and Joelinton is a £40m player finally coming good.

Trippier and Bruno are Champions League standard players that wouldn't be there without the money.

How are people saying Hasenhüttl did a decent job.

Southampton have been horrific for the past two years or so.

They haven’t moved forward at all, that isn’t good lol so I totally agree with you. I did laugh at those saying we should get him over Rodgers

They are really good to watch. I always thought Howe was a good manager at Bournemouth but his recruitment seriously let him down. It seems at Newcastle they have got it right so far. The new management team seem to be doing a very professional job on how they are running the club - I thought they'd go crazy on trying to sign Mbappe and Neymar or anyone else with a reputation to boost the profile. They really havent. They have acquired experienced premier league players alongside some real talent around europe.

I dont think they'll make the top 4 this year. Might be a bit early but 5th - 7th is a real possibility and that would be excellent progress.

Newcastle have always been a good club too. Excellent fans - very friendly. I am sure in a few years that opinion of mine will change just because they are successful!

He took over an absolute skip fire and he kept sides in the league who were not blessed with talent and with very little investment.

How come Lopetegui has such a big reputation?

His managerial record looks quietly frankly crap.

Rayo - sacked, ended up in the third tier

Porto - biggest ever budget, didn't win any silverware

Spain - his conduct lost him his job after qualification to WC

Real Madrid - just 16 games - won 6, lost 6

Sevilla - finally silverware in the knock-out Europa League COVID Cup. In league seemed, very par reaching 4th with Sevilla and the 4th biggest budget. This season 1 win in the league. Sacked

He badly managed Real Madrid and Spain that is why lol he sure doesn’t seem the type to be ready for a serious relegation battle

They haven't improved though and that's on top of losing 9-0 twice.

Investment is probably more the issue, the quality they've been bringing in is worse than what it was (Poch and Koeman brought in some really good players) but Ings did cost £20m and Adams was £15m.

Ings was a success. Adams for £15m isn't a bad signing. They seriously lack goals throughout their team though.

granted they’re playing well and good luck to them, but those four players cost £100m

I think Hasenhuttl was ready to go anyway. Not many managers would admit they didnt know how to turn their results around like he did. The writing was on the wall as soon as said that. Southampton have just sold too many of their top players over the years. If they had a similar strategy to ours, selling 1 player a season, they'd have a much better team.

Looking at the possible candidates for Southampton it'll be Dyche, Lage or Postecoglou.

It won't be - not every club follows our "former Premier League and/or current Celtic" approach to appointing managers, and more fool them.

Michael Edwards gone, Klopps time coming to an end. Massive amounts of money spunked in a donkey with a terrible temperament. I can see why they're trying to get out while the reputation is still high.

From the statement, looks as if they’re looking to retain a majority stake, but would welcome outside investment under the right circumstances. So a bit of extra investment to be able to pump more in to transfers, pick up part of the weight on stadium redevelopments etc?

Really hope its Dyche, just so people would stop going on about him here.
