Just don’t see the point in him coming back and fighting for a place. He categorically doesn’t have the attributes we need.

He is already 5th choice (behind Fofana, Evans, Amartey, Soyuncu)

Could probably be 6th choice as I wouldn’t be surprised if Ndidi would get picked ahead of him if fit and we had to choose between the two, maybe even 7th behind Hamza as well? lol

He isn’t going to go climb up the pecking order this summer either as any outgoing will have a replacement

Denmark managed has said players not playing regularly could be at risk of not going to the World Cup, needs to leave and find regular first team football just for that

You don’t remember Lee Marshall or Junior Lewis I take it? I remember one defiant fan of the latter, being reported in the LM, to have put £20 on Junior Lewis to make the England squad for WC 2002. He only got 20/1, it was probably the worst bet ever placed!

No. I’ve only been a fan since 2016.

Now here's a bloke who managed ro get a great deal when he moved here with zero chance of getting it elsewhere. We've got problems moving some of our players on as we ve paid them famously.

The thing is even if he did turn it around and play well in the odd appearance... he's still back up to our first choice defenders, and likely going to be competing to be back up with someone new this summer.

So he can't answer his international managers request at this club regardless.

He needs to be somewhere that plays 3 at the back every week, just like Denmark do, can see him doing fine for a club there just like he does internationally. That system can make average defenders look great with the right partners alongside.

Yes. I feel for him: What else is he gonna say? He can't be happy with the season he had and backs himself to do better.

But, yeah, he needs a new team or he is going to drop down the pecking order for Denmark.

At least we only gave him a three year deal ….could have been worse!

All clubs, at almost every level, have that problem. The bigger the club the bigger the problem.

Did we pay off denmark to issue that comment hoping he would bite? Lol

Damnit!

Ps! Nobody should post in this thread unless you have a club statement about him leaving. Gets my hopes up when i see a new comment. Now, i have continued the cruel pain for another forum user. Lol

If he’s willing to put the effort in to be be considered I’m all for it. Remember soyuncu had a ropey first season, Rogers allows players a year, hopefully his massive lack of playing time is him smashing a speed fitness program in the gym for next season.

ffs - he is just going to end up sat on our bench for 2 more years isn’t he?

Jannik Vestergaard responds to transfer rumours: I’ve no plans to leave Leicester

He explained: “I have no plans to leave Leicester this summer. My intention is definitely to play more next season, and I am sure that I will be ready for the World Cup in Qatar. I will be fully motivated when I return to pre-season with Leicester.”

Just got to hope we can shift him next summer, when he’s bored of not playing.

Best we can hope for is contribute to his wages and a European club come in for him who's model is to take players on loan without the long term responsibility.

It is quite astonishing what we're willing to pay players within the £70-100k a week range but begrudgingly go above that for players. How about offer more wages for better players and stop paying top whack for dog shit like Vestergaard, Perez and Bertrand. Makes me ill

At least Bertrand got injured so we could claim on the insurance........... I hope.

Suspect we may have lost our no claims bonus over the last few years mind you.

Harsh putting him in that bracket. Only as good as you're last game.

I understand a high wage for Perez: He was supposed to be starting every week. Vestergaard and Bertrand weren't signed to be starters. I mean Betrand will see out his contract on a doctor's bench, but Vestergaard needs to go. Hopefully a new CB signing and few youth players being looked at ahead of him during the first training sessions will force the point home.

I am just glad the World Cup is hanging over his head. He is 29, and doesn't have the legs for another "big contract" and could easily just ride out the next two years on the bench. I don't expect him to be sold, unless he fits into some manager's grand plan of three-at-the-back low block in the Premier League, but I hope we can at least get him gone on loan.

I don't, we doubled his wages. He's commanded a bigger starting salary than the likes of Ricardo, Tielemans, Iheanacho, Maddison etc did. I think we've wasted a lot of money trying to ensure there's not huge disparity amongst the squad but if we have a clear pathway of those successful for the club get rewarded very quickly then we ought to cut a lot if this nonsense out.

Totally agree. I was vexed that we let him sign for a 3 years deal instead of a 2 year. That made no sense to me at all unless schmeichel had some input...

This signing had 'miss' written all over it. He offers nothing we look for in a CB. To a man a pretty much everybody called it.

But still we went through with it and surprise surprise here we are a year later. Moving Vestergaard on a minimal cost to us is a key step. With any luck we'll recoup some of the fee in a permanent deal. I'm still hoping Gladbach come back in for him - they play 3 at the back and he had his best career spell there. I'd be delighted with any fee. No doubt it'll be a loan with us covering some his wages.

As for Bertrand, he also fits that bracket of key player to move on at minimal cost to us, although he'll go for nothing or see out his contract in the treatment room.

Is that when his contract ends? (he says with palpable hope in his voice)
