The myth of Leicester recruitment brilliance was absolutely trashed last summer.  To be fair it has been very hit and miss for a while.  Musa, Slimani, Perez to make a few.  By the way Adi Akinbiyi takes some beating for worst value signing ever.

I dispute that, played most games in his first season scored 11 premier league goals and then we sold him for 2.5 million to Palace. Don't get me wrong he was shite but at least there was some return on investment in terms of Premier league goals and recouped fee.

Someone like Adrian Silva on the other hand who came for 20 odd millions started about 5 league games and left for nothing on the the other hand.

You watch any old footage of akinbiyi playing for wolves. Ball over the top, akinbiyi running through and scoring. When we bought him, everything was played into his feet, with his back to goal. He was terrible running with the ball.... but that wasn't his game. Peter Taylor Masterclass....

Spotted in Milton Keynes, world cups tallest player! Worth adding to his "for sale" advert.

It's really unbelievable how bad in the air he is. He should be the answer to our set piece problems, just be aggressive in the air and stick your head on everything that comes in the box like Morgan and Huth used to do, maybe he just doesn'thave the pace or reaction time to attack the ball. Even though the "you can't teach aggression" comment from Rodgers seemed to be aimed at Soyuncu it's the biggest problem with Verstergaard. He did do well in Rennes and that's probably where his strength is a team that defends really deep, probably with a 3. He could do a job at a team near the bottom that played like that. Hopefully one of the newly promoted teams think the same.

The modern day 'it's Wellens' fault' player at the club.

Except of course he’s crap and Wellens played well on quite a few occasions!

Wellens was actually a cracking player in his first few years. He was just a prime example of holding on to a player too far past his best

Leicester City defender handed transfer ultimatum by international manager
The centre-back has only been at Leicester City for one season but did not feature in any of the final 16 games in the Premier League and did not make the bench for the last nine

Jannik Vestergaard will miss out on a place at the World Cup unless he leaves Leicester City this summer.

The centre-back is away with Denmark for their Nations League games this month, but his international manager Kasper Hjulmand has said he will not take any players to Qatar unless they play regularly for their clubs over the first few months of the new season.

That's good for us. The player will be pushing for a move so it's in everyone's interest if he isn't here next season.

This quote was included in the same article:

“I never tell anyone they must change (clubs). I've also seen people suddenly break through at their clubs. But I do say to those, there has to be regular playing time. It is extremely important for them if they are to have a chance to join.”

So he didn’t issue a transfer ultimatum. The Merc strikes again.

Not directly but it's a strong message to any one that fits the criteria and you can't argue with that he does.

"but did not feature in any of the final 16 games in the Premier League and did not make the bench for the last nine"

Word play and semantics.

Except he directly said he didn’t do that. Either way, it’s not gonna be our problem next season! lol (hopefully…)

I read this as he’s staying and wants to compete for a spot?

Jannik Vestergaard makes Leicester City vow ahead of new season

The Danish defender helped his country beat World Cup holders France on Friday and received praise from his international manager Kasper Hjulmand for answering those who questioned him

Jannik Vestergaard is “highly motivated” to return to Leicester City and get himself back into the first-team picture next season. The Danish defender did not play a single minute of the club’s final 16 Premier League matches of the campaign after injury comebacks for the likes of Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans saw him drop down the pecking order.

His only league appearances in 2022 came in the 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham, in which he played 90 minutes, and in the 2-2 draw with West Ham, in which he was brought on for injury time, during which Craig Dawson scored an equaliser. But he did play in the FA Cup victory over Watford and the pair of wins over Danish side Randers, while he also helped City see out an aggregate victory at Rennes in the Europa Conference League.

Vestergaard says that’s not enough game-time though, and he is determined to change that. He insists he feels in better shape now than he did last autumn, when he had a longer run in the City team, and believes with a good pre-season he can further improve.

Whether he gets the chance to show that at City next season remains to be seen, as the club are on the hunt for a new centre-back. Vestergaard is one of the players they are expected to be open to receive offers for as they trim their squad ready for a campaign without European football.

Speaking while on international duty with Denmark, Vestergaard said: “Matches are extremely important. After all, it's more competitive to play matches where it really matters than it is in training, but I have not become a worse football player in the last six months.

The thing is even if he did turn it around and play well in the odd appearance... he's still back up to our first choice defenders, and likely going to be competing to be back up with someone new this summer.

So he can't answer his international managers request at this club regardless.

He needs to be somewhere that plays 3 at the back every week, just like Denmark do, can see him doing fine for a club there just like he does internationally. That system can make average defenders look great with the right partners alongside.

Probably the worst professional footballer I’ve ever seen.

You don’t remember Lee Marshall or Junior Lewis I take it? I remember one defiant fan of the latter, being reported in the LM, to have put £20 on Junior Lewis to make the England squad for WC 2002. He only got 20/1, it was probably the worst bet ever placed!

Think he would fit in well at Brentford with the raft of Danes there. Although they already have Pontus Jansson performing that lamppost role for them 😂
