As always, crazy that this is 'news' but fair play to Jakub Jankto. Not sure his comms agency have handled this in the best way, made it look like a guilty admission (perhaps deliberate to highlight to difficulty?) but anyway, a momentus moment for the sport, hopefully a domino effect for those who feel ready.

Is he the first to come out in one of Europe's major top divisions?

EDIT: Just realised he's back on loan in Czech Republic.

Yeah on loan from La Liga... I mean if anything doing it whilst he's playing in Czech is incredibly brave!

Major bollocks from him considering his nationality and the regions’ attitude to homosexuality

I read this the wrong way 3 times giving you the benefit of the doubt and then the 4th time I finally read it how you meant it lol

He's a 40+ cap international for a fairly major nation who is in his prime.

I'd say he's the most significant player to date to come out.

To say this looks bad is a bit of an understatement.

Genuinely think this is the tip of the iceberg. I don't believe the sport is clean at all anymore to be honest.

I've said loads of times but there's just so much money on the line for so many vastly wealthy people who frequently flaunt the rules in their day jobs, why wouldn't they in football?

Think about how many extremely wealthy people profit from Barca or Madrid being successful.
