I see Arsenal having a pretty poor season to be honest. Chelsea and Man Utd still a bit up in the air but don't think either will be serious. Expect Spurs to finish highest of those four.

Leicester City’s opening Premier League fixture is at risk of being pushed back a day to avoid a clash with the city’s Caribbean Carnival.

City’s schedule for the new season was published on Thursday, with Brendan Rodgers’ side drawn at home to Brentford for their curtain-raiser. With the TV games already selected for the opening weekend, City were set for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, August 6.

However, the city’s annual Caribbean Carnival has already been organised for the same day, and it is understood the club are preparing for their fixture against the Bees to be pushed back to Sunday, August 7. The clash has occurred with the Premier League season starting a week earlier than usual to accommodate the World Cup in Qatar in November and December.

Why can't the festival organisers arrange their event to be held on Sunday, itself?

Because they always do the carnival on the 1st Saturday of August

Also I imagine it is a lot easier to rearrange a football match than everything needed for a carnival

First come, first served. Also football shouldn't have priority over everything else in the city.

If the club admin had spent less time evicting long term supporters, the council building cycle lanes and the police less time in Grimsby chippy they might have seen this coming? 🦊

I agree with your last point but can see Arsenal having a good season. They showed some real potential last year, they did drop off but at the same time, they have some real quality in their squad.

I said after seeing them away at Newcastle in May. They were so reminiscent of us in 19/20 and 20/21, so much quality but struggle when push comes to shove. Needless to say though, they’ll have more scope for manoeuvres in the market than what we did. A few additions (which they are making) and they’ll be in the mix for top four imo.

Not sure why we didn’t request an away fixture for the opening weekend ?

Im not too bothered about this.  Sure some tough games but thats every season.

Focus on not getting injuries,  having good health and anything is possible.

That first month is fine, dunno why we'd be worried about facing either Man Utd. or Arsenal. Both beatable and notorious for slow starts.

Chelsea, maybe not, but we can get at least 9 points early doors IMO.

how ??

Because the carnival was confirmed as being that day back in January, well before the club needed to submit any no-go dates for the fixtures.

Bet we never requested to play away first up.

It could well be down to a lot more than that. Brentford might have requested to play away first? Fulham playing at home may well have meant Brentford had to play away first. There’s a whole load of potential requests from us as well that would’ve been prioritised higher than us playing away first. Diwali weekend away, Boxing Day being at home our top two requests I’m sure.

It’s crazy when things don’t go our a lot of people instantly assume the worst of every situation.
