I watched the match in full a little while ago. It's a very interesting one to watch in that our game plan completely crumbles after Parker gets sent off, because it's not really something you can plan for (also Martin kept Ian Marshall on for far too long when he was clearly knackered).

Without sounding too much like a defence, Harrel was incompetent, not corrupt. Parker takes the free kick and the yellow comes out straight away for presumably gamesmanship. It shouldn't have come to that because he should have at least taken the time to have a word with Parker about waiting for the whistle.

But there's clearly an "Oh shit" moment when Harrel goes to write Parker's name in the book and realises he's already booked him in the first half. But at that point he's in too deep. If he takes a bit of time to assess the situation, no way a card comes out and we probably win the game.

In MON's angry post match comments of the time, "the game was definitely fudged"!!

Wayne Brown putting his washing on line and tripping over into his bed sheet, at least that’s what he told me.

was his favourite tv character CONE-an the barbarian?

A moment that was both funny and sad at the same time.

Nacho, during his time when nothing seemed to go right.  Leicester have a corner, it goes straight to Nacho, who heads it back down the field.
Would have been great if he was on the defensive side of the ball.  Poor guy.

Scott Taylor was absolutely phenomenal that day, I was convinced after that game he was going to be a top, top player. Unfortunately injuries got the better of him, but his bleach blonde hair might be worth a mention in the shocking thread

My all-time favourite player for us. We have had better players for us, no doubt, but there was just something about his game that I took to.

Garry Parker and Scott Taylor (along with Lennon, Izzet, Claridge, Heskey and co.) were both immense towards the end of that that season we went up by the play offs in 1996 and continued to be in the Prem. but as you say S.Taylor never got the opportunity to progress in our first season back in the Prem. under MON as he got seriously injured for a lot of that season from memory and was never the same player again thereafter. Didn't he go to Wolves thereafter?!

Agreed, we could have been in double figures in that first half. Unreal how we ended up hanging on in the end

Only Jeffrey Schlupp's shot at home to Everton in our 1st game back in the PL in 2014 left me more speechless.

Props Flair, since no one I've ever recalled this to seems to remember it. Truly atrocious effort when clear through on goal - jaw dropping ineptitude which was more reminiscent of one of Dusty Hare's classic conversions from 1981. Didn't Wood get the late equaliser?

Someone's already mentioned it, but I was in the Kop when Coatsworth hit that screamer which I remember vividly because seconds before someone had just asked me what I thought of Gary Coatsworth. "First touch that you would expect from a panel beater" came my reply.

Possibly Roger Davies, one on one with the keeper, treading on the ball and falling over.

Musa's shot/come cross at Bramall Lane in the third round of the League Cup was frankly beyond incompetence.

Steve Moran and Tony Sealy were a shocking partnership up front in the wake of Lineker and Smith. In fact, Moran rivals Vestergaard in terms of the Southampton 'laugh all the way to the bank' stakes.

Jeff Schlupp haring down the wing with the ball into a good position and having so little clue what to do he ran it out of play and jogged back.

All the attributes and so little brain at times.

Seeing Bertrand back with the lads in training today got my mind thinking back to that inexplicable moment last season where he was a good 5-10 yards behind our defence playing the opposition onside with free reign on goal.

Anyone got any other jaw droppers from us?

Walker punching the fan, hands down.

Side note - fair play Ian, got a lot of time for it.

Might be wrong but didn’t Frank Sinclair score an injury time own goal on his debut then the following week do the same at Arsenal.

Not sure that's quite right is it? He signed in 98, the following season he scored a last minute OG at Arsenal to give them the win and the following week score another in injury time to earn Chelsea a draw. Later I heard he went back to London on the Chelsea team bus for a night out as a lot of them were his old team mates 😳

If we're talking high profile shanks wide, Iheanacho's away at the Etihad which would have handed Liverpool the title in 2018/19 was beggars belief.

Possibly, I know he was out in London the night before on the razz because he wasn't in the team. The man loved a night out 😅

Happens every season but seemed especially prevalent last season, judging by comments on Post Match threads ,

Lots of our star players after one of the many poor inept performances having the audacity to be seen shaking hands and laughing and joking with opposition players who they are friends with......overpaid , uncaring self opinionated muppets...

should have been sacked on the spot for showing they are human beings 😜😜😜

Ok. I wasn’t sure. Thought it was the first couple of games of the same season. Wouldn’t surprise me if he did go back with them.

Im sure O Neill banned him from the squad for the final because of the ticket fiasco.
