With all the chat around not being able to bring in players, and the seemingly the inability to move players on (not entirely our own fault, cant sell if no offers received). Has the club been ran poorly over the past few seasons. Were we always heading for a season like this eventually once we didnt qualify for european football?

How do we get ourselves out of the seeming hole we have been drawn into, do we sell our prized assets to balance the books, do we have a manager that has gone as far as possible and is now just waiting for the boot?

I cant help thinking this is going to be a long old season (world cup in the middle to make it worse). Fofana clearly wants out and I believe he will get his wish once Chelsea stump up the golden figure, whatever the club see that as. Will Maddison be sold if we receive a bid of £60 million from someone?

Im hoping the club have a plan in the background to cater for these possibilities but being quite honest I dont think they have. We dont seem to be able to shift the deadwood, its only the cream of the crop that we can move on.

Am I being pessimistic? And before the abusers out there go into over drive these are genuine questions I think many of us have. Are we destined for a relegation scrap this season?

This seems very similar to the "damage limitation" thread yesterday.

Mods can we merge them and have one "repetitive, negative, whingy, moany" super thread please?

Nah let's call it the truth the whole truth and nothing like the truth.

We need to ship out before we sign anyone, it's not rock science!

Would you want to be paying 4 people 200k to 300k a week or 15m a year to do nothing?

After shipping out Kasper Schmeichel  Khanya Leshabela on loan we still have 29 pros we have to register, sign a player that becomes 5!

1    Kasper Schmeichel

2    Danny Ward

3    James Justin

4    Wesley Fofana

5    Caglar Soyuncu

6    Ryan Bertrand

7    Jonny Evans

8    Daniel Amartey

9    Ricardo Pereira

10    Jannik Vestergaard

11    Timothy Castagne

12    Luke Thomas (UNDER 21)

13    Lewis Brunt

14    Harvey Barnes

15    Youri Tielemans

16    James Maddison

17    Marc Albrighton

18    Hamza Choudhury

19    Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

20    Nampalys Mendy

21    Wilfred Ndidi

22    Dennis Praet

23    Boubakary Soumare

24    Thanawat Suengchitthawon

25    Jamie Vardy

26    Kelechi Iheanacho

27    Ayoze Perez

28    Khanya Leshabela (LOAN)

29    Callum Wright

30    Daniel Iversen

31    George Hirst

32    Josh Eppiah

33    Jakub Stolarczyk

If you are optimistic in the current state we appear to be in, then good for you.

I agree with the original poster.

Lets just take one other issue, the perception of where we are going in the players eyes. It seems that at least Tielemans and Fofana want away, if they go it makes the other players ask the same question, where is this club going, will I win anything here ?

I don't think the last transfer window helped.

The number of "dead woods" we are now carrying, the strange insistence on trying to make players suit the favoured system instead of playing them to their strengths, this strange injuries issue we seem to have and so on, have just compounded this.

I could go on, but it doesn't seem as if we have moved forward over the last year or so, the opposite in fact.

We had to increase our wages to compete with those around us. The problem is we signed players that are not good enough and we don't want them anymore. It does seem we are the only club worried about squad sizes and wages etc this which doesn't make sense to me but then I do really understand the business and financial side of football. Should we have done more to increase our turnover to sustain our wages?

Its difficult for a club like ours to maintain and sustain a challenge. We have to get everything right and we haven't recently.

Bit longer term than that surely...

If we had strolled to a 3 / 4 nill win like what it felt like we were on for Sunday i doubt there would be as much.
