Leicester City in hot pursuit of Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier amid Fabrizio Romano news
Leicester City have turned their attention toward signing Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier before the summer transfer window closes, according to GetFrenchFootballNews.

The news outlet reported via their official Twitter account and their website on Wednesday (17 August) that the Foxes are keen on signing the 22-year-old.

Leicester’s interest comes despite Fabrizio Romano reporting earlier on Wednesday that Meslier is “untouchable” at Leeds, who won’t consider negotiating with Manchester United for him amid speculation linking the French goalkeeper with a move to Old Trafford.

Hands-off warning

Leeds have no interest in selling Meslier and we really don’t see why the French shot-stopper would have any interest in joining a Leicester side that’s clearly on the decline.

Kasper Schmeichel surprisingly quit the King Power Stadium earlier this season, leaving Danny Ward as Brenden Rodgers’ new number one in between the sticks.

It’s a pretty dire situation in the East Midlands and we really don’t see the Foxes finishing much higher – if at all – than Leeds this season.

Meslier has a good thing going at Leeds.

Leeds United
Former Whites goalkeeper Paul Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News on 25 July that Meslier is a “fantastic talent” who he sees playing for a Champions League club in the future.

Robinson did, however, predict that this could be Meslier’s final season at Elland Road unless Leeds improve dramatically upon last season.

He said: “I’ve got no doubt that he will move on and play Champions League football at some point of his career.

“It’s a wise decision to stay at Leeds and play as their number one, if they have a similar season to last season though, they will struggle to keep hold of him.

“If he plays the way he does, there will be big clubs around Europe come looking at him.“

We’re fully prepared for that to happen at some point – maybe even next summer.

But Leeds cannot sell Meslier now. You don’t sell your number one goalkeeper halfway through August when the transfer window is just two weeks away from closing.

He’s absolute bobbins. Stay far away. Miserable haircut too.

Lad is 22. Our last Leeds GK turned out ok in the end.

However, Leeds ain't selling to us. Signed a 5 year contract last year.

It means even if we were going to bid for him and Leeds allowed it, it'd be stupid money.

Their fans are calling him names if they are like us?  :dunno:

Stacked in midfield. Stacked in goal.

If we didn't have Iversen and hadn't just signed Smithies, I'd be up for this as I think he would do well for us. Kasper wasn't perfect when he joined us and that was when he was a similar age.

But it's not a position we need to improve in or sign for right now.

Avoid.

Apologies. It was a reference to players leaving shortly after signing a 5 year contract.  Clearly it wouldn't happen - or perhaps I over thought it.

He’s not very good mate.

....it seems the norm not to try and catch balls coming at you. His big feature is that he is comfortable with the ball at his feet and has a lot of composure!!!

We keep on bringing in keepers who are not up to the grade and you do wonder who looks at them and then says, bring him in. He has good reactions, saves a lot with his legs, is a bit Kasper-like, and looks like he will do.
