Fofana training with Under 21s after failing to turn up to a training session

Agreed. Chelsea must be loving this, seeing it as a way to drive down the price.

I suspect they won't be put off by his behaviour because they have encouraged it as a means of unsettling him and prising him away on the cheap.  The last thing we want to do is to throw out a message to all the other vultures that we can be forced into selling players cheaply

Maybe I'm wrong ... we will see..

Exactly. They tested Brightons resolve but they stood firm and got what they wanted.

They're trying it on with Everton and Anthony Gordon too as well as us. They've probably have no intention of paying full price for Fofana or Gordon for all we know but it keeps the new owners in the media as ambitious go getters and serves to unsettle other clubs players at the same time.

A bit of anti Chelsea rhetoric outlining that to Fofana and Gordon wouldn't go amiss to explain that the club they crave, don't really want them and are just using them as pawns. Fofana needs telling for his own good that his behaviour ( being the second time he's played up), may well put other big clubs off signing him in the future. It's not just about agents. Good managers can get inside a players head too!

Why? How's that going to help us when all things are considered? Leicester are away to Stoke on August 15th as they embark upon their first taste of 2nd tier football in 9 years but we must take this opportunity to commend them for not being mugged off in front of their pals last season. Well done bruv.

I understand what you're saying but where does it end though?

You could argue we've already lost points by him refusing to play and I don't trust us to spend his fee on decent replacements. I'm just fed up with the money involved in football and the player power and something stupid needs to happen for it to change, it's so frustrating lol

I've been watching Leicester for over 50 years and I've been seriously considering making this my last season of attending games. I have no issues with the club but the way that everything is geared to ensuring the perceived 'Big' clubs get richer makes me sick.

Three weeks ago Little Wes was my favourite player but now I'd like to see him rot in the u23's.

Chelsea have behaved terribly in unsettling our player but will go unpunished.

Little Wes has shown a total lack of respect to the club and fans. Anyone employed in a normal job would have seen their pay reduced  if they are unable to work for an extended period. In his case he was given a much improved contract!

The most annoying thing of all is that if he does move to Chelsea the club will have to pay him an obscene loyalty bonus because he has not put in a formal transfer request. When he gets that everyone should realise that we, the fans, will have pad for that through ticket purchases, Sky subscriptions etc

Surely if he fails to turn up for work without fit and proper reason he forfeits his wages and loyalty bonus...?!?

Turn up to training and then play well on the weekend. Let’s not pretend this is the first time a player has tried to force a move away. He’s a good player and we need him, he’ll eventually leave for a lot of money.

Depends how well he can reconcile this period and return to high level football. No guarantees.

Unless Chelsea are actively encouraging him (through agents etc) to spit his dummy, this behaviour is more likely to put them off than raise their bid. They could well decide that a petulant child, who has previous like when he signed for us, is not the player they want after all.

The one bit of business we will be able to do is to use some of the cash to sack off Rodgers.  There's a positive.

True. I just despise Chelsea at the minute. Took no time whatsoever to stump up more than the asking price for cucurella; offering £60 mil for Gordon 😂 but really dragging it out for fofana when out the 3, that’s the position you’d think they’d be prioritising the most.

We hold all the cards.  He's on a long contract and needs to play to stand a chance of getting in the French World Cup squad.  So keep fining him and putting him with the U23s when he refuses to play.

lol I only just realised it said he missed a session last week.

Once again Rodgers trying to play the media and fans like a god damn fiddle.

Yeah probably the wrong thread to post that particular comment in but everything seems to have gone to shit really quickly. The feel good atmosphere surrounding the club has well and truly gone

It definitely has. This is why the transfer window should shut before the season starts, it’s such a circus.

With all the issues we have with Rogers right now the disciplinary action on foffana is the right thing to do. Is it hurting the team leaving him out? Yes of course! Is it hurting the team leaving him in? to a lesser degree yes.

As a club we are trying to prove to outsiders that there is a right way to resolve this and a wrong way. There are consequences for not caving in to what chelsea or foffana and his agent want but I’m behind the club on this one. We have other prized players and their agents watching how this all unfolds. If we fold now it will be a shark feeding frenzy.

this ‘dream move’ is all bollox! Chelsea was never a dream club for lil Wes. It was Madrid I believe. This is all about money and greed. Our club took a big chance on him giving him an extended contract after that horrific injury. He may not have recovered from that at all but he did and that’s credit to him and our medical dept.

im sorry but that’s good will he needs to pay back. just 1 more season isn’t the end of the world either. If other clubs were wanting him that’s different but only chelsea are and that’s because they are desperate trying to fix the mess that their in. I hope everton holds firm too now chelsea seemed to have messed with Gordon’s head.

authorities have to reel chelsea and these agents in for messing with players that are on legitimate contracts and not handed in a transfer request. Illegal tapping up? Unsettling players has to be a crime.

Ffs just let him go now.
It seems like the rumours WERE right, he is being a pain in the arris and there is no point having a 70mill player in the reserves.

The club need to pull their fingers out their bottoms, sell him on and get a good CB replacement in ASAP.

What the fook is the club doing at the moment!

70 mill can buy a decent player(s) with change left over, who might actually want to be here

Rant over…

If Chelsea persist with this c**tery I can see the Club taking a stance with them like Vichai did with the Dildo brothers at West Ham.

Top marks for use of the term ‘cu**ery’

I totally get what you mean. It’s all becoming farcical. We have big problems in terms of our performances and league position without having to deal with player unrest. I guess time will tell if the club is willing to die on this hill to prove a point.

Hard times.

If the club capitulates on this, it will show to other clubs that we'll eventually back down on our valuations of players if those players throw their toys out of the pram. It will weaken us in future negotiations and encourage players to believe they just need to throw a strop to get their own way. We need to show that we won't be bullied by other clubs or our own players into selling for less than our valuations.

I’m not sure about this. Every players circumstances will be different.

And we need to up the transfer kitty.

All I know is it makes no sense for the club at present to have a 70mill player languishing in the reserves to ‘make a point’.

We ARE in a trepidatious position and need to offload a player who clearly doesn’t want to be here and to be bolstering the squad with players who are up for the fight.

In my mind, we are in a fight and need players who want it.

The Sun are saying Chelsea won’t bid for him again. IF true, I wonder if or even how he can reconcile with us…?

Good point - it could be a big challenge for Rodgers. i think fans have a part to play - if he does stay, we have to move on and not isolate/boo him - and then hope the coaching team and colleagues can get him back to enjoying his time here.
