We seem to be repeat the same mistake over and over again, buy a CM who can play wide. He played a number of games RW/RM & LM/LW for Marsielle last season.

The fact we are linked with Matheus Pereira who is also a central player who can play wide makes me think it intentional and we want a player link that.

Our recruitment has be pretty poor for 12 months and we seem to be shopping in the bargin bin.

Underwhelmed by every player we have been liked with.

I agree, it's so frustrating. I understand it to a point, there are certain players like play put wide but aren't traditional wingers and someone like Pereira is far more suited to being out wide than say Harit. He's even gone on record saying he doesn't like playing out wide I believe and the whole reason he left Nantes to join Schalke was to play centrally. The reason he seems to have gone off the boil is because teams deploy him across various positions and he doesn't nail them down.

Forward planning for madders departure?

I really hope not, Maddison is elite level at long range shooting. Harit has terrible long range shooting technique.

Thank fvck hitc are as reliable as Bert's WhatsApp group.

Bild is the original source, but it’s in German so I posted the English language article which happens to be hitc, who I agree are shite, but they’re just quoting Bild.

Bild is the German Sun tbf. Its just a tabloid with a sports section. It's not gospel.

amazes me how snobbish our foxestalk have become with linked players. I wonder how much of these players you've actually seen, and how you get the time to watch these fringe German or French teams?

Amine Harit is fairly well known. He's not some sort of underground name you need to be a specialist to know.

He had a reputation for having some vague talent but not the personality to back it up. He's like the Bundesliga Demarai Gray.

You don't have to be some hipster to know that tbf.

The Bundesliga is broadcast all over BT Sport.

Clearly I understand that German football is shown on UK tele but thanks for the info.

However With a family, full time job, 5 a side, interest in boxing and a fondness for the pub I don't have a great deal of time to watch Shalke v Union Berlin and run my eye over the Moroccan demari gray!

I would just question how many times you or anyone else writing of this signing and others have seen the players in question to be able to gauge them a poor signing.

I'm not being judgemental. You just have to understand that football is my hobby, as it is a lot of the people on this forum. BT sport and sky between them have made a lot of Europe's top leagues very accessible and we see a lot of football from around the continent's top leagues. Whilst there definitely was a time when it was mostly fifa kids pretend to know what they're on about, these days it's quite easy to be very clued in to European football if it's your genuine interest.

Fair play if you've got a busy life and other things to worry about but a lot of people are going to be aware that Harrit is bang average.

So humour me then, how many times have you watched a full game he started in the last 2 years? And what were your thoughts on his strengths and weaknesses?

Also There are no guarantees with football transfers I seem to remember a great deal of hype and excitement around dakas arrival. And yet he has so far been largely disappointing (touch wood he has a good season).

Another good example is inler and kante, one arrived with a lot of fanfare and excitement and a positive reputation one flew relatively under the radar and one of them proved to be one of the greatest players of his generation!

All I'm saying is there seems to be a lot of fans using potenal incoming transfers to be negative when:

A. I doubt how much they have seen the player in question.

B. There are no guarantees with transfers.

It baffles me. I watch a lot of sport, football in particular, of course.  A lot.  I'm lucky I'm married to someone who also enjoys sport and I don't have kids.  Okay so there is cricket in there and that generally is a sport that can eat days.

But are people really watching that much European football? I guess the fact it's on BT suggests there is an audience for it.

I'm always interested in people's opinions on players I know nothing about from the European leagues.  End of the day it's just their opinion and they'll be proven wrong plenty.  However, that's football in general. It does make me chuckle when people state so unequivocally about this player or that player.  It's simply an opinion.  I've been proven wrong so many times about our own players let alone players I watch occasionally.

All that said it's better than the sum total of jack sh1t that I know about the European leagues so...

I’m ok with this provided we also bring in a starting right winger. I’m guessing the thinking behind it is that would provide decent cover across all 3 positions behind the striker in the 4-2-3-1 system, and not forcing us to change to a back 5 if Barnes or Maddison get injured during the season.

If he is signed as our main right winger option then we have really lost the plot !
