Rodgers (Allegedly) Publicly Calls the Players Not Good Enough and Throws Them Under the Bus

We're not bottom of the league with 1 point because of no new transfers.

Like dealing with an alcoholic, how is he going to improve things if he can't even see where the problems are? Stuck his head in the sand with us being garbage at set-pieces and now this?

Pudding.

Not even managed to get a winger! I sympathise in that respect, our recruitment is woeful. Not even a loan deal is unforgivable.

We are literally desperate.

Why did he spend £30m on Perez and £20m on Praet when £50m would have bought a decent right winger

Tbf he’s completely right in that he hasn’t been backed. People can go on about hows he’s been backed before and failed (which I agree with) but if thats what the board believe then they should sack him and give money to someone they do trust.

If they were stupid enough to pay him all that money then be brave enough to pull the plug.

Right now im unsure if I less faith in Rodgers or in the board as both look pitiful

No one is saying he’s wrong or the board don’t take any blame, but you don’t undermine the quality of your players in public. How is that anything but massively demotivating and really going to make the players want to play for him?

Yeah a bit like saying to the press "Nick Para is really not that good. He's ok but not what I had hoped for". I'd be less willing to try and more critical  of my boss.

Castagne is one of the only players willing to stand up and say things haven't been good enough. Brendan will not like that.

What did he say after Chelsea? Wonder if that's why he was dropped today.

Hang on, I'll queue over night to be the first person to give Brendan shit but surely people understand he means to help improve our team and squad. They'd agree themselves we need a shot in the arm.

However, if this gets rid of him then I agree. BOOOOOOOOOO

This is not a bottom of the league squad though is it lol

The quality available to him is plenty enough to be grinding out wins and playing more aggressively.

He's worming. He wants out, it's clear as day. I don't know what we're playing at at this point.

He’s in self preservation mode as he knows his days are numbered. This bullshit deflection on lack of transfers is a diversion tactic so he still hirable, in his eyes!

it’s coming to a sad end, but clearly Brendan is not the elite coach we once thought he was, or he thinks he is. No accountability for his and his staffs actions. Yes, agreed this summers lack of transfer activity is disappointing, but understandable in terms of balancing the books. But he had the funds in recent years and a very poor transfer record that his management team is responsible for, are part of this downfall. Face up to it! And pack up your desk.

He has done it before, he's honest. Even when we've been doing OK he seems genuinely quite unimpressed by us, gone up in my estimations 😂😂😂

100% agree. From that point of view, the board are equally culpable. Absolutely right, if they don't back him, sack him.

The board will he seriously discussing what to do with Brendan I reckon, I think he gets Sunday but I think we're in crisis and it makes no difference. We will lose and lose and lose at the minute.

He has said that the players haven’t been helped. If you sensationalise it, he’s throwing them under the bus and calling them shit, sure. If you take it for what it is, he’s saying that the players need some help (not that they’re all useless, interesting how people project their own feelings onto these things) and I’m pretty sure every single one of those players wants to be playing with better teammates.

Whether you like the pundits or not, every single person that talks about it says that you need a shakeup and healthy competition to spur others on. You think the players don’t know that and are arsed that the manager says they needed help in an interview?

Some of them don’t even want to be here. He could come out and say Tielemans doesn’t actually want to be here and that’s why he walks around the pitch half arsed every week - that’d be throwing them under the bus.

I honestly think he’s trying to get himself sacked. Scott Parker got sacked for saying effectively the same thing as BR said tonight. Hopefully the board are fuming and relieve him off his pain and suffering.

It's a Mexican stand-off between Rodgers and the club over which of them pulls the trigger first and forfeits the money. It could go on for some time.

Sure some people need hugs and cuddles just to do their job, but some need a good kick up the arse. I'd argue professional footballers should be tough enough to take the latter.

Complete and utter reputation management from a man desperately trying to cling on to his media-proclaimed "elite" status.

At this rate I'd wager a fair few Championship teams would turn us over.  Especially away from home.  What the **** are we waiting for?

I'm worried about the future of this football club I really am.

The board is in shambles. The blame is everywhere. I know people like magic bullets but sacking Brendan lets other's off the hookk. Congerton to Glover. And I don't know who Bournemouth's keeper is but I'm sure he's a much better option than Ward.

The board is annoyed that they are not getting the elite coaching they're paying for from Rogers at the same time as COVID, FFP, etc have given us a tough 18 months. I'm not going to pretend it wouldn't be run slightly better with Vichai still here, but we're still run well and I can understand the boards hesitancy to invest heavily this season.

I personally think they should have sacked him, replaced him and backed the successor now, but there's no doubt it will be cheaper/easier next season when several big wage players are out of contract and Rodgers contract is a year shorter so they appear to have decided to give him another year because 'whats the worst that can happen?', thinking Rogers is still an elite coach with a top half EPL team, not a useless baby that will throw his toys out of the pram and get us relegated. That is their main error in judgement.

Both Brendan and the Board can be wrong. We needed to strengthen the squad if we want to compete for Europe.  No way this squad should be as bad as it is. Our league position was lucky last year.
