Rodgers (Allegedly) Publicly Calls the Players Not Good Enough and Throws Them Under the Bus

When you consider that Top has just poured his heart out in the programme notes about how the club can't afford to invest and has to be sensible to sustain the future.

When you consider that for all of his moaning Rodgers still has 90% of the squad that finished 5th twice and won the FA Cup.

When you consider that Brighton, Leeds, Brentford et all are managing to play with enthusiasm, confidence and spirit despite having objectively worse starting elevens.

When you consider that this manager, at the start of the window, said fair enough I know this is going to be difficult - I won't go to war with the club.

This is quite frankly a hideous thing to come out and say. What an absolute self serving ****. He's gone. Abject disrespect to both the club and his own players. To go all Mick Morgan, if ye've any bottle Top ye'll gerrim walkin'.

Well said.

So why didn’t he buy them last season instead of spunking it all on Southampton players?

Why didn’t he do it the season before? Or the one before that?

How many of his signings over the 3 years have been any good? Hardly any. We have bought so much rubbish under him, rubbish he has approved and suggested.

They have backed him, he’s failed, now they’re trying not to bankrupt the club.

Completely agree, and that's because we've allowed him to bring his whole setup with him, and forego a model that's served us so well. Congerton - shocking. Toure - shocking. Bertrand - shocking with his backroom deal

The club will learn from this, but they're at fault here too and are part of why we've done nothing this window.

He threw them under the bus back in February when he said he wanted a refresh.

Classic Brendan Rodgers, deflect blame elsewhere to keep his reputation in tact. Pundits will instantly look towards the lack of our transfer business and blame our struggles on that, they’ll also praise Brendan Rodgers as they fall for his bullshit.

The struggles come from a boring, unimaginative and stale style of football which we’ve witnessed for a year.

Shame the only people who realise that are Leicester fans.

Don’t matter how much people bleat and moan, he ain’t getting sacked cos we can’t afford to sack him and whether we like it or not, he’s not been backed in the transfer window. The money ain’t there for whatever reason.

I knew this is what he was gearing up for as soon as he started going on about this refresh. He was getting his excuses ready for when things wouldn’t go his way.

He is an established member of the Cambridge University Netball Team, and he has long outstayed his welcome.

He will get sacked. The cost of relegation outweighs the cost of sacking him.

So you're telling me that in 10 games time after over a third of the season gone, if we're still bottom of the league he'd still not get sacked? Clubs would never ever put themselves in a situation where they are powerless to attempting to rescue themselves because of the salary of 1 individual. Read what Top has said tonight.

He is gone and I'd not be surprised if its before Brighton now.

Prediction - Rodgers is managing Villa in 2 weeks.

When Little left for Villa he was Judas. If Brendan does the same tomorrow we would call him Jesus Christ our Saviour

Our Owner probably supports Brendan😂😂

Maybe the reason we didn’t spend much is so we can afford to sack him. Which in my view would be money well spent. Worse thing we ever did was the bumper new contract after the Arsenal interest.

Ever wondered what the rest of the fofana money was for?

Just listened to the RL interview, such poor player management.

Castagne now joins the many players who have got the Rodgers' cold treatment.

It's a tough situation but he's making it worse with his negativity and alienating more players.

As another posted said, why is Soy on the bench if he is training so badly? There's a lack of consistency.

Very interesting in the post match interview, he talks about the players as if he isn't involved with them.

'They are hurting and I feel for them'

'When they get that win, their confidence will grow'

Lots of 'they' and 'them' and very little 'us' and 'we'

He knows he is gone.

Yeah I’m quite surprised these are the quotes that people are getting worked up about, it’s probably less overtly critical of the playing squad than it was after the Forest game and he’s been calling out individual players for bizarre reasons for at least 2 and a half years.

This is who Brendan Rodgers is. When things start going wrong he will not look inward, there is always somebody or something else to blame and he always has a friendly journo to talk to about it.

I cannot wait until he's gone. Puel was as bad but you could hang your hat on the fact it was a young, upwardly mobile squad that everyone knew was heading one way.

What's he leaving us with? A squad that plays with its head down because it's consistently, publicly told it belongs in the ****ing Vanarama.

Get ****ed you little shortarse.

Anyone able to enlighten me on what was said regarding Castagne. If it wasn’t a knock, thought it was telling that his replacement on the right missed a chance that I would have been confident Timothy would have at least hit the target with.

I can see faults everywhere. I have wanted  Rodgers gone for a while and I see nothing to change my mind buy you have to ask WHY have we not brought more players in?  People will also point to the dross we have brought in over the last couple of seasons, but Rodgers does NOT have the final say on transfer targets. I do think he will be sacked  tonight or tomorrow but if there really is so little money around then you have to, in hindsight, question the wisdom of  investing so much in infrastructure and you have to question wether the playing side has been neglected. Rodgers will probably be sacked but who has been sanctioning all these dross signings? Who is in charge  of the scouting network ( not rodgers) and WHY have we appointed a head scout who can’t even be in position until after the window closed? Who’s idea is that? Rodgers has shown his incompetence but there’s a few cracks appearing in other places to.
