Rodgers (Allegedly) Publicly Calls the Players Not Good Enough and Throws Them Under the Bus

Recommended Posts

He's deluded. In his radio Leicester interview he said:

he thought the players gave their all - clearly not as a lot of them couldn't be arsed to run most of the game

He said he thought Thomas was excellent - has he actually lost the plot? He was at fault for their goal and he was like a deer caught in headlights all game. I've said it before, the boy needs a loan move as he's completely regressed.

He threw Timmy under the bus basically saying he cannot defend and is at fault for the goals we've conceded so far. He said Cags has been truly shite in training, Vestergaard is.... Well I'm not entirely sure what he said about him.

The bloke has lost it and needs to go. He just needs to go.

but clearly Brendan is not the elite coach we once thought he was, or he thinks he is

This. He did pretty well at Celtic but then... Scottish league etc...

Did Ok at Liverpool initially then was a bit strapped for cash by the board and gave up.

Similar trend here.

The board is annoyed that they are not getting the elite coaching they're paying for from Rogers at the same time as COVID, FFP, etc have given us a tough 18 months. I'm not going to pretend it wouldn't be run slightly better with Vichai still here, but we're still run well and I can understand the boards hesitancy to invest heavily this season.

I personally think they should have sacked him, replaced him and backed the successor now, but there's no doubt it will be cheaper/easier next season when several big wage players are out of contract and Rodgers contract is a year shorter so they appear to have decided to give him another year because 'whats the worst that can happen?', thinking Rogers is still an elite coach with a top half EPL team, not a useless baby that will throw his toys out of the pram and get us relegated. That is their main error in judgement.

So how incompetent board for not even sacking Brendan yet? also why are you arguing with me?

Sure some people need hugs and cuddles just to do their job, but some need a good kick up the arse. I'd argue professional footballers should be tough enough to take the latter.

And doubly so for the managers

Tbf he’s not wrong but it’s his own doing.

Didn't need saying in public though by him, that's a conversation to have, alone, with the Board!

They backed him last season. Maybe the recruitment is letting the whole side down but I dont blame the board for trying to be prudent and not spending like drunken sailors.

Fact is, this squad is not relegation worthy yet here we are.

Not sure I agree with you on relegation worthy.

Vestegaard - £15m had a decent euros, £15m really doesn’t break the bank.

Bertrand - a free to replace Fuchs to share position with Thomas and Justin.

Daka - looked a really good signing

Soumare - again other fans were drooling over us signing this guy.

Praet - not sure what this signing was all about

Perez - was never worth £30m, but was Rodger’s responsible for negotiation with fees?

we’re also dealing with a disinterested Tielemens, is Ward good enough? I think Cags and Ndidi probably want away, it does all point to a stale squad. We have been giving players increased contracts when we probably should have recruited and moved those players on, this is why we are where we are.

What are the actual quotes about Timmy? I haven't seen those yet.

He's been in the exact same situation twice before and left either by his own accord or by the club very very quickly. He is now done, if the club were hoping he'd turn it around and be happy to not be backed then they now know that's never happening. If the cost of removing him is a massive inconvenience then so what, it happens. Pay his wages until he gets another job which won't be long.

@AjcW called it early doors. Stick him on gardening leave.

Well you know what he’s like. Just trying to cover his arse isn’t he.

Who knows. Would you spend 30m of your cash on someone's recommendation. Of course you wouldn't.

:dunno: They did.

The board must rely heavily on the recommendations of the recruitment team and their manager, surely?

Not untrue, but gunning for Cags, the board and Castagne in public, having already gone at Justin and KDH after Arsenal... He is goading Top to sack him, and just give the blobfish faced **** what he wants at this point

Funny one isn’t it, we seen perfectly happy to pay the wages of a bunch of players who aren’t getting a look in… so one more waster on the books won’t harm lol

Yes, they are starting to look weak now, but it's Brendan who's not held up his end of the bargain not them.

There were just too many in here trying to deflect from Brendan on to the board and you were the one I replied to 🤷

Tbf he’s completely right in that he hasn’t been backed. People can go on about hows he’s been backed before and failed (which I agree with) but if thats what the board believe then they should sack him and give money to someone they do trust.

If they were stupid enough to pay him all that money then be brave enough to pull the plug.

Right now im unsure if I less faith in Rodgers or in the board as both look pitiful

Yeah, its looking like the whole thing is a mess now, from top to Todgers

It's true that we should have signed more

But we didn't sign anyone especially because of Rodgers poor recruitment along with his mercenaries like lee and the passiveness of rudkin. Top showed too much blind faith in Rodgers. Should have been gone after the end of last season. All good things come to an endt.

This squad is so poor it only made it to a European semi final five months ago.
