We're in some sort of insane parallel universe where the manager is desperate to get sacked, is doing everything in his power to get sacked and the board keep him in the job and just sit and watch the situation slide. It's madness.

The board, all day long because ultimately they are responsible for Rodgers. It was them that brought him in and it was them who didn't get rid when the writing was on the wall after the Forest game.

The financial aspect of the club is also on them.

I'm confused about all this talk of "the board" tonight. Why are the board a separate option to Top? as far as I was aware top was the owner and Susan whelan the CEO. Who exactly are "the board"?

What it says on the tin

It started with Rodgers, a long time ago.

We as a club and fanbase have been very patient on a whole. (I don’t include myself in that).

The style, the identity, people say we don’t have an identity, we do, it’s just an awful, disgusting, insipid style and identity, that’s on Rodgers.

Rodgers has been given the most money, resources and infrastructure, the most backing any LCFC manager has ever had, he was allowed to bring his staff in, change our ‘model’ somewhat.

He’s spent well over £200m.

I am starting to question and call upon the board, they had a choice at the end of last season, sack Rodgers or back him, the chose to do neither - The longer we continue this way the more questions and culpability I put on them.

I claimed as a club we’d wrote the season off before it started, I had many comments against that, raised eyebrows, I stand firmly by it.

Sacking Rodgers doesn’t solve our problems, we have many complex issues at the club however Rodgers is a key part of my main issue.

Vestergaard.

He should have accepted the Fulham move and given us some financial wiggle room weeks ago. He’s chosen to stay and pick up big wages when he’s clearly seen he’s not good enough and knows he won’t play, an absolute fraud.

Noticed Filbert was a foot taller than usual tonight so at least we’re making Vestergaard earn his wage.

Rodgers but none of them are blameless. However Rodgers is 100% the most at fault. His self preservation is killing us.

We are living thru the most glorious period in our club’s long history, and someone actually thinks a poll on “who’s to blame the most” is worth airing.

Give yourself a good talking to.

Yes, I've watched the last 6 games and sat back with a satisfied smile playing across my lips, taken a sip of fine single malt and thought, 'isn't this all just so glorious'

Poor recruitment so all of the above, apart from the players - but they’ve been impacted badly by no new faces, not being pushed etc.

What a mess. Funny as well how the footballing world are only now realising this. It’s almost as if yesterday at half time the pundits on BT came on this forum and realised what’s been happening (and saw my thread about malaise 😉).

I don’t believe it’s 100% Rodgers fault, and I do feel a bit sorry for him (just a tiny bit) about recruitment this window. But the fact is now - I feel - the only change to get a tune out of these players is to change the manager. They need to work for their positions again and perhaps respond to somebody different.

The person who is to blamefor the poor show so far is whoever makes the team calendar.

Luckily, September is bound to pick up...

Brendan for the way we are currently playing and the club are at fault for letting it get to this point with silly contracts and mis management tbh it's time they parted ways and look at what worked previously.

The Romans! What have they ever bloody done for us?

Apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, public health and knocking us out of the Conference League?

Below ive tried to highlight the reasons for our downfall and the people responsible.

-Transfers & Contracts- Rudkin and Whelan. Whelan as the financial power would have had a say on some of these huge longterm contracts. Whats laughable is that the worst ones were signed during the summer we were trying to learn after having so much trouble shifting Ghezzal, Silva and Slimani.  Whats worse about this, is I can bet you anything vestergarde, bertrand, even hamza would have signed for a good 20% less. We werent a team scrapping relegation fighting for their signature, the project was a good one. Terrible negotiation

-Change of direction in transfers- Rudkin / with a dabble of rodgers-  The move from young on the way up talent to more established pro's can only be stated as a failure. Youri possibly the only real success from the switch to this model.  My main gripe with it, is that you cant beat the big teams this way. If you are signing players they know about but dont deem good enough, thats probably because they arent good enough. Dortmund take the talent before its been fully proven and that edge in taking it a little earlier allows you to poach the next best starts before theyve bloomed. If Daka was on Haalands level, after the season he had, he would have been snapped up by a bigger club.

Lack of managerial change-  Whole board-  We all know this should have been done long before. They all should have been pushing for it. Top ultimately should have been more of a leader and deemed his comments and results not good enough, even if the DOF was still believing in him.  However,  the DOF is hired to be the expert in football, so from Top's view, his fan style reactions are not based on experience or knowledge, so Im inclined to feel that perhaps he was just allowing the DOF to do what he's paid to do.

Defensive Flaws-

Set piece coach-  Rudkin-  Not forcing someone into the club sooner must have cost us ridiculous amounts of points.  But what alarmed me the most, was that when they hired someone, we were fine to allow them to miss the whole of pre-season.  Absolutely ludicrous and no other big club would have allowed for the prep time to be missed by clearly a key concern.

Mental Brittleness- Players- This one comes down to the personality of the players. Any time the pressure got high they rolled over. Too many late goals conceded. Too many heads going missing after a goal comes in. Do we not have a club psychologist? Because wow do we need one.

Poor defensive tactics Brendan era- Brendan/ kolo- It was clear certain things at the back werent working. Playing in dangerous areas.  Playing high lines against fast forwards. A  few moments come straight to mind. Man u at the start of the season where we were so far up the pitch one long kick and rashford was through.West ham (bowens field day) we never seemed to learn that we werent quick enough to play the high line we wanted to. Without fofana, we had no chance.

Poor defensive tactics post Brendan-  Smith - I could just say tactics in general but the lack of midfield protection cost us games at the crucial time. It didnt take an expert to see that there wasnt enough energy in midfield. Without KDH or mendy, we set out asking for trouble.

Brendan Rodgers -Problems-  Throwing the players under the bus. Trying to make the fans out to be the enemy. Not making players individually take charge. Allowing certain players free passes- party gate for example. Yet isolating soyuncu for speaking out after dodging a leg breaking tackle.  Overall, he wasnt consistant.  Brendan created a hostile atmosphere for the season and I genuinely believe he just wanted to be put out of his misery.

Ostracizing players-  Keeping Soyuncu away from this squad when we had the worst defensive record.

Dean Smith -  Problems- I think that tactically Dean smith didnt have much of a clue but the biggest disappointment for me, is that he didnt seem to know the team.   Ndidi used to be good, I should play him.  Not knowing Vardy should be on the crucial penalty.  Not realizing that mendy and KDH's energy kept us competitive in games.  Not realizing that a combination of youri and soumare would be the softest pairing in the league.

Contract situation- Rudkin- We lost half the motivation of our squad by allowing for so many players to be out of contract and others close to the end. Mentally, the players checked out a while back.

Disconnect from fans-  Wheelan- I think that the changes the club were making without thinking about the everyday fan was starting to where people down. People of a certain age, feel less and less welcome at the club. A free pint or coconut water are empty gestures after making fans feel like they are a pain in the clubs backside for so long. Moscow away  is the biggest example of how far weve lost touch, so little was done by the club to either help fans make the trip or to commend the ones that fought their way to make the trip.

Injuries- Rudkin/ Rodgers-  It was very obvious the training methods were wrong. The science was wrong. Yet we continued and have damaged so many of our assets. Even the under 21s have had the brunt of these failures.

Being too nice- voting with the big clubs- not moaning about bad decisions.   How have the 5 subs helped us in anyway? Or anyone other than the top 6 clubs. I hope being thought of slightly more warmly by the same clubs who refused to loan us players and just look to poach our starts was worth it. Laughable that now we might consider suing Everton, yet were fine man city cost us top 4 twice.

Focusing too much on the future, while ignoring the present- Whole board.  We had current issues, but we locked all out money down on bigger projects like the stadium. We were more focused about meeting FFP rules for europe, when nobody else is caring. We sat still for a summer and thats not something a good club can do... never mind one needing a rebuild.

Overall, its a collective fail. But the more I think about it the more I realise that the problem starts with Rudkin and that Top has just allowed him the freedom to be... well a director of football. I know its easy to point fingers at the man at the top, but he hires people to make these decisions. So the real complaint you can have would be why he allows Rudkin to remain employed.
