Though I would love someone to ask about what happened to the "reset" that he was talking about during pre season like you suggested @Ric Flair Hahahahahahaaa I really hope Jason Bourne asks him that. He quite quickly dropped that bull shit and moved on to gobbing off about not being able to sign anyone and how frustrated he is that the squad are complacent and lack quality. Some opportunity for those poor players to have a reset mentally and kick on again.

Rodgers is past caring we should absolutely not be attacking them because they will crucify us in the break conte will know this and will set up to draw us onto them we will play right into their hands - Brendan will have not got involved in detailed tactical work to avoid this
moore_94 Posted 15 September 2022 Posted 15 September 2022 Brendan Rodgers Pre-Match Press Conference vs Spurs Queen's death? “It was clearly a very sad day. Fitting how the country has commemorated the Queen’s death. She did a remarkable job, giving up her adult life to do her role, carrying it out with distinction. I met her twice, once with my daughter, I’ll always cherish that memory.” Postponement? “We were really looking forward to playing. We had trained all week and were ready for the game. You go away and move on and look to prepare for that. A sad situation meant the game wasn’t on. We’ve had a really good week this week." North v South game? “My thoughts are we make it a free weekend and the Midlands clubs get a breather. Todd’s come into the game and will look back and think it wasn’t one of his better ideas. We’re in a world now where we’re trying to minimise the number of games, so I don’t know about adding another one into the mix. I don’t think most football people would say we need that.” Adversity? “It’s difficult in terms of results. We’ve tried to keep the environment light. We have been in a situation we haven’t been in before where performances are not to the level we want. We have to be brave, sometimes you can lose that aggression but you can’t afford to do that. You have to defend very well collectively. We have been able to look at those aspects. For me, it’s straightforward, enjoy working with the players and ensuring we do the basics right.” Injuries? “Dennis Praet has been out for a few days but should come back into training tomorrow. He’s had an ongoing issue with his foot. He’s tried to play through it. We’ve allowed that to recover. He was on the pitches with our conditioning team. Everyone else is fine.” Mood? “Everyone is very supportive and working very hard. There’s no other way. You want to see grit and passion in the workplace and that’s something we have in abundance. It’s not just about talent. The ones who succeed have determination and perseverance. We will keep pushing and we will get the result that will push us on.” Spurs? “It’s clearly a big challenge. They did very well last season and have some very talented players Antonio has them very organised and they have that quality. We know it’s going to be a very difficult game. We can’t sit back and let it happen. Our intention is to go and play our game, play with that courage and that aggression in our game. If we can cut out our mistakes..." Fixtures? “Through to the World Cup there’s a great chance to push on. The fixtures have been difficult, but we had to have delivered more.” 25-man squad? “That’s the reason why Ryan is in and Ricardo isn’t. Ricardo is not due back until the new year.” Stadium? “I think it’s great news for the football club. It’s great that there has been a collaboration between the club and the local authority. It’s part of the legacy of Khun Vichai, something that was talked about when he was alive. It commemorates his legacy and keeps the club moving forward.” Postponement equals more work on training ground? “I didn’t see it as that. It’s something we do all the time, working on the pitch. If you’re talking about defending, it’s about the team. To win matches, you have to defend well, and we haven’t defended well enough. It’s about attitude. It’s not just the defensive line. Those first moments of pressure, if they’re not right, the rest of the team is running. If one player is not quite doing it, everyone else is having to move into spaces they don’t need to.” 2
Lambert09 Posted 15 September 2022 Posted 15 September 2022 (edited) I know Brendan wont want to resist 5 atb for this but I think we should go for a 4312 I personally think Praet might have the dynamism to make it work though. He would be someone that has the ability to get out wide when we are attacking and add to the play but also work on 1-2's with timmy when he burst forward. I think that KDH has the ability to do that for us on the left. You could flip a coin between the other cms for the last spot right now but as its spurs, probably wilf. Weve tried 433 and only one player has looked effective ... kdh and thats largely down to being the only one who can run. You cant sit youri or soumare on the outside as both just dont get about enough to fill the void left by a winger and end up sitting too deep and our attack gets isolated. daka nacho Mads kdh praet wilf jj faes evans timmy iverson Tactically spurs are an interesting team to analyze. The 3421 can be hard to breakdown as they play 2 defensive minded cms and rely alot on full backs supporting whilst allowing the front 3 to party. Their area of weakness is the wb's by far which is why its important we utilize this space, im not convinced our full backs do this well enough, which is why 5atb would be a terrible idea. 1 up top is also a terrible idea because between the 3cbs there will be so little to work off as they will have the lions share of possession. Which is why id be looking at KDH and praet as the difference makers, pull into the gaps left behind when their full backs get too far forward and help us break with 3 snipers ready to deliver if we get them the ball . We wont get many attacks but when we do, if we can get support to our 3 up top we will score goals. Personally I see that side as balanced and something that has potential to defend well but also hurt teams. What is great about this, is if things dont go well you can easily bring on barnes, vardy and youri and switch to a 4231 and go at them Edited 15 September 2022 by Lambert09

I wouldn't say it is weird or anything like that for him to bring up that he has met her. 3

Ric Flair Posted 15 September 2022 Posted 15 September 2022 First press conference or interview in quite some time where he's not looked to slag someone off or be overall negative. Let's hope he's suddenly realised how destructive his actions and behaviour can be in a battle like this and is trying to evoke an improvement from his players. We need a result on Saturday, to have played 7 games and gotten just 1 point would be absolutely horrendous. 1

Brendan’s time is up, I reckon he will be sacked tomorrow after the game regardless of the result.

Still doesn't think there's anything tactically wrong with how we play and it's the attitude that's wrong and causing us to concede goals though.

His bizarre team selections, tactics, substitutions & total refusal to involve any of our U23 players all point to that. Further confirmation yesterday in the ridiculous decision to put Bertrand in the 25 man squad. I think he'd happily knacker the whole club up 2

urban fox Posted 15 September 2022 Posted 15 September 2022 Back to basics here. No sense in trying to match up spurs formation, or playing a lone striker against three at the back. 4,4 f’ing 2. sharky on the right to balance things up, you know he will put a shift in and provide defensive cover when needed. Vardy and Nacho up top with maddisin in behind personally no strong opinion either way regarding the cdm but maybe a chance for mendy? would leave us with a bench of youri , Praet (if fit), kdh,Wilf, Daka, soy, Dan, thomas etc. Not so long ago we would have been salivating at the prospect of having such a bench.
