This worries me...

We know it’s going to be a very difficult game. We can’t sit back and let it happen

...so he's going to take it to them, push up, press high and let "it" (I.e. concede goals) happen.

What is it that's said about monkeys and typewriters? Give us long enough and we'll win a game using that tactic - the 'repeat same mistakes' idiocy tactic.

Rodgers continually remarked about mistakes and lack of quality yet insists on playing to a tactic that brings that out. Horses for courses Brendan. God forbid you lower your standards.

I'm going to hide in a bunker while this 6 in a row plays out. We could see Ward setting a new personal best for plucking the ball out of the net.

Match report from next monday's Evening Standard:

Tottenham decided to rest ten players, and went with a one man team against bottom-of-the table Leicester City.

Coach Antonio Conte expressed his disappointment as Spurs eased to a 3-0 victory, and was also critical of VAR's part in the 12th minute sending off of Harry Kane......

Can’t ever recall being so disinterested in an upcoming game. 😞

Someone says this now on practically every pre-match thread. How did you get through Levine, Taylor. Pleat and Hamilton? Or did you simply not bother watching?

Really, did Rodgers actually say that?

"You want to see grit and passion in the workplace and that’s something we have in abundance."

Presumably his tongue was pressed firmly into his cheek when he said that.

If not, then he is deluded to the point of being out of his mind.

Football as a fan is less enjoyable than it was in those days, which is a major factor. We also have access to everything so there are barely any surprises anymore. We know exactly how good opposition players are and even what kind of style they'll likely play. VAR is killing special moments in games.

Mix into that the current stagnation and underperformance of a squad that is probably paid more than any of the entire 90s and 00s teams combines. It's understandable people aren't particularly buzzing for it.

I understand why people "aren't buzzing for it" and that we are woefully under performing. But, an element of the Great Escape was the fact that although not all city fans were behind Pearson (it's a complete myth that they were), they continued to support the team. I completely get it - to be honest, I used to contrive excuses not to go under Levine. But it's when we find ourselves in a nadir such as this, losing interest en-masse is the worst thing that can happen. The reason Pompey still even exists is the loyal fanbase.

Anyone else transferred Kane into their FPL team and made them captain?

It's what the Queen would have wanted.

I was a home and away bloke in those days. Bizarrely, I think the novelty of it all ….. the buzz of trying to avoid getting beaten to a pulp …… the connection to the players….. it just all felt exciting. Even when we were shit. Maybe it’s an age thing, but it doesn’t feel like that now - even in the good times. When the football served up is so tedious and depressing, I’m kidding myself if I pretend it matters like it used to. 🤷
