In case you don't know who he is.

Adam Sadler joins Northern Ireland senior men's coac...

On his way to Middlesborough

Michael Carrick wants to add current Leicester City first-team coach Adam Sadler to his Middlesbrough backroom team, reports The Northern Echo.

The Northern Echo say that Carrick is set to be confirmed as new Middlesbrough manager this week.

The ex-Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder has seemingly been in discussions with the club for a while now, but difficulty sorting his backroom team has delayed the appointment.

Assume they're good mates? Geordies and the same age. Can't think of any other link. Unless he just rates him of course.

Opportunity to refresh the coaching team. Need a hard bastard in there.

Shame as he would end up being the caretaker if Brendan ever got the bullet. But fair play to him. Presumably knows Carrick being from that neck of the woods.

Might have done their badge/courses together - that's often how coaches meet.

Our new manager will want his own coaches anyway ….

As much as I know this is a semi joke, Sadler is what is known as a continuity coach, the sort all clubs keep around for when new regimes take over/the i between bits to make sure some coaching can occur

Bizarre things go on in football, was at a club once where the new manager appointed his assistant via a recommendation of his agent (someone he had previously represented). The new assistant turned up and seemed a bit out of his depth but you'd think it's just nerves or getting used to the surroundings. When pushed on where he'd been previously he had been working as a coach in Greece for one of those knock off academy franchises for arsenal that sells the dream to local kids they can make it to the prem. From that to a championship assistant manager in one phone call, he lasted about 6 months and collected the rest of his 100k+ wage sat at home until the his contract expired at the end of the season.
