It's the law. In England and Wales, it's a criminal offence to sell (or even give away) a ticket for a sporting event. The rationale is too criminalise ticket touting but unfortunately regular fans are caught up by the same legislation.

Just out of interest, landlords are just ticket scalpers of houses.

I've just received a letter from the club stating that I'm banned for the next 2 years. I sold my ticket (for £20) to some arsehole on here because I couldn't make the Leeds game due to parental responsibility. That cock has sold it on TicketStub for £200. @Magda do me a favour, contact the club and ensure I'm back there by Boxing Day. I love this club and I was trying to do you a favour. Nob.

What nob head would pay £200 a ticket to watch us, more to the point

i'd genuinely love to know, and ask, why on earth would you pay £130 to watch that. more money than sense

I’m guessing the club bought it, so they could find out who’s ticket it was.

A friend of mine put one of his tickets on Facebook for one of his tickets early in the season, somehow the club found out and issued him with a warning,

2 year ban probably stems from it being on a resale platform for such high money.

I’d be very surprised if they turned this over, sadly.

They’ve put a lot of effort into a resale platform and fans not flogging their own tickets. They won’t be bothered that you’ve sold yours for £20. They’ll still say it’s illegal blah blah blah.

Really hope you get a positive outcome mind.

This is so harsh.

I wonder if there's an appeals process? I mean it's not only banning you from the stadium, but also fining you as I presume they won't be refunding you for the rest of the season.

2 year ban a joke if you ain’t got any history.  You would probably get less if you ran on the pitch, pulled a mooney and gave Bren a kiss with your tongue. Outrageous for nothing more than a minor offence.

There's much worse things people do at the KP yet don't get banned.

Yeah there's a bloke with number 69 on the back of his shirt, he should be banned for life.

Yeah no chance this gets overturned unfortunately

It’s harsh but personally I’d never gamble with my ST for the same reason. They email constantly about the resale platform, though I’ve never used it.

I know this doesn't help the OP but, out of interest, why don't people just use the resale platform?

I used it for one game I couldn't make and found it simple and straightforward. Day after the game the money was in my bank account. Why take the risk?

I've used the resale platform already 3 times this season. Shame that it can't be used more than 3 times as I'm currently ill and can't travel. It means my seat will remain vacant for a while when other fans are desparate to go.

If they’re serious about all tickets being Etickets next year then this needs changing.

At Arsenal you can resell unlimited times or transfer to a family/friend for a £1 admin charge also unlimited times.

At United I believe you can transfer/resell 9 times.

That's mad. "Transfer of tickets is against the law unless you pay us".

Same at Palace as well I believe.

Bummer.  Sorry to hear this @sdb.  Seems very harsh.

I think that your best chance of getting this overturned, is to try to see somebody at the club face to face and politely state your case. That's what I would do and (again politely) not take no for an answer until I was able to speak to somebody in authority.  I think it would be all too easy to be fobbed off with correspondence.

Anyway, good luck!

Caveating the family/friends bit i think they also need to hold some level of membership but still a lot more flexible than ours.

This.  Spot on.  Its to stop ticket touting.  Only way to go is through the clubs resale platform from now on.
