First of the ‘Pearson generation’ to go into management apart from Wellens (who himself is impressive)?

does Kevin Phillips count? could do worse than bringing him back in as an assistant coach tbh

Tom Cleverley as well even though he was only here on loan

It's a strange one with Kingy potentially becoming our manager, regardless of if it's now or later.

Yeah it would be class and no doubt there would be some great times and he gets the club, but the overwhelmingly likely outcome is he gets sacked like almost every manager here.

So we need to get relegated this season, so Kingy can take the League One, Championship and Premier League titles as a manager as well.

Definitely want him to stay on as assistant manager/coach.

We have a desperate lack of quality people with knowledge of football and the club at the club after the last 5 year nosedive.

Sorry if it's answered elsewhere but what experience has Kingy got of coaching to date? I know he's been doing something at city for a short time but has he done anything elsewhere? Not against us taking a punt over the likes of Chris Wilder but just wondered.

Exactly why I'm not keen on him being manager in this scenario. The expectation of where we should be and the reality given the current scenario might not match up well meaning the manager is under more pressure.

And bear in mind there's a huge chunk on here who don't view him as a legend but possibly a 'cult hero' if they're feeling generous, and he's probably already up against it with some.

Couple of years at Bristol City under Nige and then Manning. Informally at first then made a player coach. So not vast but he has a bit under his belt

He showed yesterday that he can set a team up well which press as a unit and also some really good patterns of play, he is far from my 1st choice as manager as I want either Rohl or Wellens but if the other choices were Dyche or Wilder I think I would rather take the risk of an unknown quantity to take the club forward, focussing on our academy talent.

I'm probably more in the cult hero over legend camp but he's absolutely somebody who is a positive and definitely wouldn't start up against it for me. The biggest reason I'd be against is simply because it's a huge gamble. I don't think it's the right situation.

He came across well in that interview. He's definitely someone I'm happy to see around the place.

And y King is NOT a manager.

If you need a plumber you don't call a chef.

But Plumbers always do make a meal out of any work done

It's in their nature

I’ve been calling for a Red Bull style system for god knows how long, King could be the first step to building that, give him either a leading coaching role or assistant manager, and in a couple of seasons allow him to take over if he proves himself.

We need to get back to signing players with future potential on the pitch, but it’s imperative we start doing that off the pitch also.

Every single time a manager is sacked there should be someone within the club who can step up and continue the blueprint. Bring them in early in their career, help them develop how WE want them to develop, then promote from within.

O’Neil has one thing on Andy King as a manager, he was given an opportunity. It’s as simple as that.

Genuinely think Kingy would do better for us!
