Reading an article about the UEFA Pro License course and among this year's group, alongside the likes of Nuri Sahin, Gael Clichy and Dante, is our very own Andy King. Includes set-piece sessions with Tony Pulis and a guest appearance from everyone's favourite manager Russell Martin.

Yeah, FAW's training centre for coaches has been unironically one of Europe's best for a few years now.

What IS ironic is the absolute plummeting standards of Welsh coaching development in rugby during the same period.

Watching his training videos is all we have as far as news from the club and was really impressed with how well he seemed to get his points across and sounded confident in front of camera.
Feel slightly better with him in the background and it sounds like he’s doing his licenses for coaching at the same time so great guy to keep around and hopefully maybe even manager of the future.

Whoever the new manager is he needs to stay in the first team coaching setup, whilst also working to help with transitioning academy players into the first team

I'm 100% sure that will be the case.

I think he will be appointed. No money to pay, we don't want to hire then fire and pay off someone else, and it takes the heat off the board early doors. IE the cowardly decision, which is the speciality for this board.

He shouldn't get the job, but I think he will. The ideal scenario would be for him to stay as part of the coachign staff for a few more seasons and take over then.

However, my opinion is that anyone in charge of our squad this season will make the playoffs, even with a points deduction. So even if King is appointed, we'd probably have a pretty decent season.

With Powell and Stowel as his assistants.

This failed with Sharks (God rest his soul).  Tactically is Kingy up to it!   He will need an old head to turn to as Rudders has not got the skills.  Make Big Nige in as consultant Ostrich  keeper Director of Football.  Kingy may make the grade but it will take time.

The level between the Championship and Premier League is vastly different. We have a top 3 squad in this division. As of typing, we probably have the best!  If Shakespeare was in charge of Leicester in the Championship with a squad like this, he would have pissed it.

Tactically, you would think he will get found out from time to time. But will that really matter? In this division probably not that much.

The obvious thing to do IS to hire someone who is more ready, that we can all agree with. But I think we have chosen the cheap route.

There's way too much pressure on going back up.

If they were committing to consolidate at this level then they might do that but I doubt that's the case.

He won't (and shouldn't) get the job.

I think you're right, which is why we'll probably go dyche, wilder....someone that's done it before but is cheap

of course the fan base would get behind him, but the sad thing is....anyone looking at it will see its just too soon as you said,

hes been in full time coaching for less than a year, this was his first match in charge, as you said the ideal thing would be for kingy to stay apart of the coaching staff and learn that way

as much i i love kingy, its a total cop out from the club if they appoint him, as hes just not ready yet

though the sad thing is, id rather have him than Wilder and Dyche

He could be the ideal candidate for right now.

We would need to invest in some quality coaches alongside him, but it's interesting who these guys get to know on when doing their badges.

Like i've said before he commanded respect at the club with the senior and youth players when he was here.  Pearson obviously thinks he has something about him too.

I'm sure the youth players would definitely look upto him here.

You've got to start somewhere and I'm not all out advocating he takes the job.  However there's a lot worse alternatives.

I also wonder if all the naysayers on here would change there minds if it was Esteban Cambiasso dong Kingys job right now

I love King more than any player in our history but I wouldn't want him appointed as I couldn't bring myself to want him out when it turns to shit.

King doesn't have the required tactical, In game management, man management, player wellbeing, or even player development experience. He's got his tick box badges though but that should get you a job in the conference not a top end Championship club. The affinity to him is purely based on him being a nice guy, club legend and familiar face. He's just an ex pro with badges which literally thousands have. It would be beyond a joke if they were to appoint King, with respect to him, I love him. Likewise you don't let possession monkey Brian Barry-Murphy leave if there's a very genuine prospect of him being manager which actually makes sense because he does have the aforementioned experiences even if at a lower level.

Seen more tactical nous in one preseason game under Kingy than at any point ina year under the last two jokers.

Doesn't mean he's the answer yet though. I'd like him to stick around as assistant, not least because I can see this coming season being a real pressure-cooker if we don't start well. I couldn't bring myself to call for his head, which is the problem - I love the man and the club knows full well a lot of us do. It's gonna lead to emotions delaying the inevitable if it does go wrong.

He has a bright future in management though, needs to cut his teeth with a L1/2 club and prove himself before someone like us comes into the equation.

Since I was spot on about Ward and called his Wrexham move months ago, I'm gonna go two for two on tenuous Welsh links - If he doesn't end up managing us in a few years' time, gonna put my neck on the line and say he'll be Wales manager by the end of the decade or thereabouts.

I thought he has done really well this week, decent first week, players looked good for 1st game back, we had a decent tactical set up, played with intensity and there were some really good patterns of play. I thought our pressing from the front was as good as it’s been for a number of seasons.

A really promising start to pre season considering the shambles off the pitch so far and I thought the academy lads who got game time all looked really promising.

Coach?

Get him as ****ing manager

Laugh at this and you’re a deluded snob who doesn’t realise quite yet how far we’ve fallen - and you’re probably part of the reason we’ve fallen this far too

Think he'll make a good manager personally and of course after today is level with Michael Appleton as best ever LCFC managers by win percentage

Got swamped by kids (and some adults) 30 minutes before the game today as he walked over to the match pitch, yet had time for everybody. He can never be allowed to leave this club again.
