Prime Vardy was never a good penalty taker and couldn't score two in one match either (vs Everton)

Nah but imo when Kane was one on one with Lloris PRIME Vardy would have chipped him and scored. Also Vardy did score 2 penalties in 1 game against Man city when we won 5 - 2 IIRC. He thrives on big games. A quality Kane lacks.

Imo has to be the most entertaining final of any WC in my last 40+ years of watching!

will be very hard to top this in years to come let alone match it. The closest we could come would be an england lifting it but they keep coming up short in the big moments. All of that will have to change significantly before we can all feel what the Argentinian fans experienced yesterday.

oh it’s been a great WC tournament too!

Was it just me or was there a lack of love between  Messi and Mbappe afterwards considering  they are PSG fanboys?

Isn’t Mbappe upset as he isn’t seen as the main man at PSG - is that Messi ?

Absolutely buzzing for Messi. Greatest of all time and don't see him being surpassed in most of our lifetimes

Mbappe always comes across as sound to me, I don’t get the hate.

If rumours are to be believed etc...some sources suggest he's not the favourite face is the PSG dressing room, and has ruffled feathers with France teammates too.

He's comparatively a kid so maybe has stuff to learn etc. I'm more surprised that for a player of his talent and potential that he can be nullified by a diligent fullback. There are times when he doesn't contribute when it's not going well for him; he will seemingly give up. But, again, he's young and will undoubtedly add to his game.

He's scored from two penalties in the same game twice off the top of my head. WBA away and Man City away.

Kane has taken a lot more but their percentage of missed penalties is similar. Kane has taken 69 and missed just under 16%, Vardy has taken 34 and missed just over 17%.

It's really fvcking weird. Covering up an Argentina moment for a Qatari one.

So unnecessary.

They put a sombrero on Pelé's head in 1970. Not saying that the robe was necessary but people are triggered over absolutely nothing.

Agree with this. It ain’t that deep. Weird reporting mainly in Europe. Outrageous given the racism from European outlets that didn’t get even a quarter of the same level of outrage. Messi and the Argentinian fans seem to have gracefully accepted the gesture - that says it all.

Also Mahrez against Everton at Goodison Park.

I don’t think Mbappe and Messi is that much of a personality clash.

Mbappe doesn’t have to worry about Messi to an extent given the power of his contract at PSG and that he has the right to even have a say in how the club is ran.

Wasn’t during the ceremony or the trophy lifting.

Why is Martinez so obsessed with Mbappe? The bloke puts 4 past him in one match and now he won't shut up about him.

Proper weird, especially when you compare him to Mbappe who is gonna have the last laugh in terms of career.

"Outrage" at it is weird but it was still pretty cringe and typical of the general 'Main Character' syndrome of a sportswashing state trying to grandstand on the world stage.

I mean it just wasn't necessary to insert themselves in to that moment really. It didn't anger me but I did roll my eyes in much the same way as when Salt Bae went mincing around the pitch trying to get involved.

Because Martinez is a prized dick. His behaviour on the penalties and with his golden glove award should show you that.

Bounou should have won it was way better in general
