The penalty, nah I'm not having it. I'll never buy into this mad theory that any human is able to wait for the goalkeeper to make a move, register that in your mind and then being able to make a move and  adjust your body shape all within the space of half a second. He knew where he was going and was just hoping the keeper went the other way.

His pen against Croatia was top class, absolutely unsaveable.

Have you seen Jorginho take a pen? These guys are clearly able to pick up the cues from the goalkeepers’ movements and roll it the other way.

That Messi cloak had me raging lol

I understand it might not be a massive deal to a lot of people, but what was meant to be a moment for the whole Argentina team and country has turned into Qatar making it all about themselves hosting superstar Messi.

It was just a pure moment killer and ending for me. It's been a great football tournament otherwise.

Happy for Messi

**** France and **** Macron.

lmao

Argentinian players sang anti-English songs in the dressing room and their government still stirs up anti-British sentiment and dreams of claiming part of our territory as their own despite having their arses kicked last time they tried to take it.

But Macron is the bad guy.

I’m glad the Argentinians invaded the Falklands when they did. They faced a very irate Thatcher who wouldn’t give up the islands without a fight.

If it happened today, I fear we’d literally not stop them.

And I’m being genuine.

The love-in for Argentina on here probably indicates the average age of the members.

I think the majority only wanted Argentina to win for one reason, Lionel Messi.

Some wanted France to win, but I guess they were showing their age too.

Not having random chips on their shoulders about a random island millions of miles away

I don't think it's the Brits with chips on their shoulders in this case.

Oh give up. Some people would say anything to take away from the fact that it was a brilliantly run world Cup, with whoever who went there saying the same thing. Most of this negativety stems from media propaganda and downright prejudice from them being an Islamic country. You have to give credit where credit is due, unfortunately that won't happen.  I guarantee if it was in Japan and he got made to wear a kimono then people would be like 'oh that's amazing, great that they are portraying their culture!"

Problem with the French is they surrendered too easily. If they put up a fight they wouldn’t have been overran.

The French!?
Surely not..

Isnt that the point though? The World Cup was in Japan. And they didn't put a kimono on the winning captain. Nor lederhosen in 2006, or a madiba in 2010, or a big furry hat in 2018. So why are Qatar so special? It was wrong to do it imo.

Messi a machine really eh? At 35 he has more assists this year than anyone else in the world and the second most goal contributions of anyone in Europe. And some saying he’s not had a good time at PSG?  We’re lucky to have seen him play really.
