The blockade would have been a good piece of direct action. 53 blokes and a few cars stopping any of their coaches leaving. Don’t remove the last car until the coach is full and ready to go. Police will be involved but with holidays might be keen for Woods to do the right thing here to resolve. As long as averyone is calm the worst outcome is Woods are seriously inconvenienced and their reputation is further harmed

Would it make a jot of difference if you had just booked the coach for a day out in Liverpool? The club don’t own the rights to coach travel around the country. There could be many reasons why a group of people would want to go to a major Uk city, even on a match day. What a shame for the people who’d booked.

Thats how the vast majority now have to book coaches. If you drop in the word ‘football’ the companies panic and then a whole load of work has to happen for the companies like notifying police of the trip.

It's too late now to book anything else and Woods have said they were unaware of the booking until 27th December and are not liable for match day tickets. We haven't even been given the refund for the original bus either, so don't have the money to rebook another one.

 

Essentially suck up the 1.6k loss in match tickets.

Sorry to hear this.  I would threaten to take them to the small claims court for the cost of the travel plus tickets, assuming they didn't give you enough time to find alternative transport.  If you did find transport, I would charge them the extra cost of that.  You don't need a solicitor.  Details of how to make a claim are online.  Citizens Advice can help if you get stuck.

Doesn't surprise me. They're now owned by National Express, so the once local family owned business is just another arm of a national company. They got rid of all their decent loyal office staff during the pandemic. Use Roberts instead.

If they were a decent company they would have offered to sort it out one way or another and not leave you high and dry at such short notice, even if that meant them sub contracting the work to another company - they are in a better position than you to find alternatives, although clearly it’s now too late.

The absolutely crazy thing about this ... is that it's happening in 2022.

 

40-50 years ago, there were coach loads of nutters looking for some serious aggro aground the country.   Having some control then would've made sense,

 

Nowadays 99% of football fans are as placid as a blancmange.   It's utter over-reaction.

Terrible, did you get to the game in the end? If you haven't already you should contact the usual checklist of those who can make a difference: Local MP, citizens advice, all the media outlets, national express (i think woods are owned by them) CEO, lcfc CEO.

 

I would get one of the group to draft a template email explaining exactly what happened, with supporting evidence and time/dates, people spoken to, what you want in compensation and threatening small claims court action (this is normally all you need to get a result). All of you then email the template to the checklist. You should all be a few hundred quid in profit out of this if you stay co-ordinated and keep the pressure on.

Looked like you are stumped. I'd feel aggreived having spent that much on travel, perhaps branch out to the club? They should do something. I thought you'd be out the woods financially by now, disgrace.
