I'm doing a uni dissertation and have a few questions for my follow Foxestalkers to answer on NFC contactless entry into the ground.

Only kidding!

Read on:

Went to bed with my brain scrambled last night after the game. I thought I'd put some questions out there - feel free to pick a number and answer one ....or more if you can. Yes there's theads out there but I want focused discussion, so please reply with the number and a valid explanation.

I have a feeling some are interlinked and one solution could be the answer for all or perhaps it's just small changes that need to be made?

1. Why is Danny Ward still in goal? Why has Iverson not even been given a chance? (Yes I know two questions in one but it's the same thing!)

2. Why did we sign Bertrand and Vestergaard and why does there seem to be no accountability for these signings?

3. How has Daniel Amartey got to become a first team regular?

4. Why ever since we moved into Seagrave has our injury rate gone through the roof and our form nose dived?

5. Why have we suddenly got no money to spend?

6. Why is Rodgers not being held to account?

7. Why are we expanding the stadium when everything else is just rotting like a cabbage in the sun? There seems to be a disconnect between investment and club performance.

8. If we have a plan to replace Vardy, how has this gone so wrong?

9. Why doesn't Ihenacho never get a look in?

10. Why are so many players running down their contracts?

I think you’ll find these questions have been asked numerous times over the last year. Maybe give James O’Brien a call tomorrow at 12pm for Mystery Hour on LBC. 0345 6060 973.

Well it's helped me and my brain to write it out.

The simple answer to all these questions is surviving in the premier League is tough, "bigger" clubs than us will struggle. We've had a prolonged purple patch where a number of gambles have paid off spectacularly. However now we reverting to the mean. It's no surprise it's coinciding with new FFP rules the maintain the big club dominance. We've also made a few missteps in the transfer market recently, whereas 18 months ago we were being lauded as being the club to emulate for buying and selling.

We really don't need this thread.

If you want answers to your points for your dissertation, do your research on here over the dozens of threads covering all the questions you ask. :P Lazy way of completing a uni project IMO.

1. Iversen isn’t rated that highly at the club, who don’t believe he’s commanding enough and has poor distribution.

Fair enough if we had a decent first choice and people were debating whether Iversen could be better. But Ward is utter shite.

1. Toss of a coin at the beginning if the season.  Was always going to get 6 or 7 games, then actually did pretty well up to the WC.  He could come good again.  Will need a 10 prem game bad run to move aside.

2.  Probably seen as solid pros to do a job off the bench/cover for injuries.  They were experienced premier league players.  It's staggering that both have been absolute garbage.

3.  Injuries, he has always deserved a chance.  Personally think he plays ok 80% of the time.  The trouble is, we need him to play well 95% of the time.  Not sure he has that extra 15% but we're short on alternatives.

4. One of life's big mysteries.

5. Blame covid/Vichai's passing/poor short term strategies.

6.  Another mystery.

7.  Long term strategy.  Difficult vision to appreciate at the moment.

8. We don't have a plan to replace Vardy.  Although it could be Daka.  We'll never replace Vardy properly though, for a club like ours he was unique.

9.  I wish Kels did get more time, but he has to play in a two up front.  To do that, the quality of the midfield nose dives, or we play 3 at the back which doesn't work well for us.

10.  Why wouldn't you?

I’m not sure about that.

I think when I was young and naive, I started one on why the club should support Craig Levein.

Worse than the one from a couple years ago asking if Ward should be our starter instead of Kasper?

9. Why doesn't Ihenacho never get a look in?

10. Why are so many players running down their contracts?

1. Manager is too pig headed.

2. Bertrand was a silly error and a sign into the lack of due dilligence, made sense but the club should've seen he had declined. Vestergaard a total panic buy. An inept had of recruitment mainly though.

3. Because the manager has fallen out with Soyuncu who is better. Because of the appalling Vestergaard signing. Because Evans has come to the end.

4. The greatest mystery of all.

5. Far too generous with contracts and poor recruitment.

6. Because the owner is showing his naivety and can't bring myself to part with his first big decision, and if he's not careful, it'll be his last.

7. Complacency from elsewhere has turned what was a logical next step into the opposite. I'm still in favour of this though if it's manageable.

8. This one was always going to be very hard, albeit it doesn't help that we as a team don't create chances so virtually any striker in this side is ****ed.

9. Manager agenda. Doesn't fit his ideals. Probably only limits his minutes because he made him look silly last time he gave him a proper run.

10. They see a club on the decline, which we are under this manager and the increasingly inept looking seniors.

That was a bundle of joy lol

Brendan’s picked his number one and he’s not going to admit he’s wrong. It’s as simple as that. I genuinely believe there was never an assessment period, the moment brendan said in an interview “ward has always been a number 1 he’s just unlucky we had kasper” you knew the decision was already made. I believe that was before iversen even returned from his loan.

2. Why did we sign Bertrand and Vestergaard and why does there seem to be no accountability for these signings?

Bertrand was attempt to replicate fuchs. Brendan went for a player he knew from chelsea, had prem experience and was also in the loop as he’s in his sons agency.  Fwiw, I understood the move. His legs went at the wrong time for us and that’s why you should only keep experience around that’s already been at the club, as you already see where their level is and how far it’s dropped.

vestergarde was a combination of panic buy and also someone our scouts had on a list previously. We might not be able to blame brendan for this. He said get me prem experience as quick as you can, our scouts took out the black book.

3. How has Daniel Amartey got to become a first team regular?

He’s earnt the spot. He’s better than the other options. you can disagree but i’d guess more people realise this than don’t. Would be nice to upgrade and i’m sure we will.

11 hours ago, Collymore said:

4. Why ever since we moved into Seagrave has our injury rate gone through the roof and our form nose dived?

nothing to do with seagrave. All to do with brendan’s methods, every club he’s been at has had this injury record. It’s something to do with the scheduling/ intensity of his training and a reluctance to rotate at crucial times.

11 hours ago, Collymore said:

5. Why have we suddenly got no money to spend?

This one has a range of factors, most we are unaware of. But simply put, we’ve made a few too many cock ups with contracts and a lack of foresight or you could say a moving of goal posts with rules.

11 hours ago, Collymore said:

6. Why is Rodgers not being held to account?

My guess would be if he loses forest or gillingham he’s gone. I’d guess he’d get away with newcastle.

I think he probably survived down to timing and availability of who we wanted rather than blind faith in rodgers. The club are tight lipped and private but that doesn’t mean it’s all roses behind the scenes.

7. Why are we expanding the stadium when everything else is just rotting like a cabbage in the sun? There seems to be a disconnect between investment and club performance.

This comes back to finances and has been pretty clearly stated by top. With the new rules we need to be generating more revenue to work with. The best way to do that is to improve the stadium (like spurs and arsenal) The club will always have to find away to fund this, but they are looking long term, whereas the fan can only see the present. I still believe the lack of spending is with an eye on us being competitive again and getting into europe… in truth we weren’t that far away after the world cup… it might look naive but the club isn’t rotting at all… we just haven’t spent in a window.

8. If we have a plan to replace Vardy, how has this gone so wrong?

Daka was one of the most highly rated strikers in the game. He needs time but has shown promising signs. Wouldn’t say it’s gone that badly personally. But you have to consider replacing one of the games greatest is always a near impossible task. if chelsea can’t find a striker with all that cash than it’s hard to state we’ve completely failed with daka.

11 hours ago, Collymore said:

9. Why doesn't Ihenacho never get a look in?

Brendan has his favourites, he’s never really rated nacho.

10. Why are so many players running down their contracts?

It’s happening at every club but this is also a reflection of how the club have shown to be so firm in the transfer window. Nobody wants to get harry kaned, many players want to view us as a stepping stone to big clubs it’s not a bad place to be, but we have to strike a balance of form but fair. I love pulling down big clubs pants but there’s always a ripple effect. Maddison isn’t going to sign a 3 year deal and trust we’d let him go to a dream club if the offer came in, he knows there’s always a chance we’d price him out of it. if this knee injury is a bad one, we’d be wise to chuck lots of money at him.

Danny Ward was made number one at the start of the season, had a shocking start but came good the more he played and recorded a number of clean sheets before the World Cup. He’s not the greatest, but hasn’t dropped any clangers since his return. I would imagine he would stay number one and be replaced in the summer.

2. Why did we sign Bertrand and Vestergaard and why does there seem to be no accountability for these signings?

Bertrand as an experienced replacement for Fuchs. In an ideal world with no injuries he would have played 5/6 games a season and helped the development of Luke Thomas. Was experienced and free.

Veatergaard was a late replacement for Fofana when he was ruled out for most of the season. We needed someone quick and available with PL experience.

Every team has good and bad signings, these two haven’t worked out.

3. How has Daniel Amartey got to become a first team regular?

An injury to Evans and loss of form of Soyuncu makes him the best available. Like Ward not the greatest, but not our biggest problem.

11 hours ago, Collymore said:

4. Why ever since we moved into Seagrave has our injury rate gone through the roof and our form nose dived?

These two are connected the injuries and form- it has certainly coincided with the move to seagrave and their could be something worth investigating in the pitches their, I remember Newcastle in the early 00s had a similar problem when everyone’s hamstrings were going and it was something to do with the training pitch

5. Why have we suddenly got no money to spend?

Thats the big question? Can understand where all the money has gone?

11 hours ago, Collymore said:

6. Why is Rodgers not being held to account?
By who? For what? We don’t know what is happening behind the scenes

7. Why are we expanding the stadium when everything else is just rotting like a cabbage in the sun? There seems to be a disconnect between investment and club performance.

because we need to keep moving forward as a club. We need to get more revenue streams. Just because we’re having a bad season it doesn’t mean all other project stop. If we want to regularly have the success we’ve had recently we need a bigger stadium.

8. If we have a plan to replace Vardy, how has this gone so wrong?

Daka was the plan, still looks good and looks like he’s now seen as first choice when fit. Next season will be his year.

9. Why doesn't Ihenacho never get a look in?

Simply, he’s not good enough on the ball. He is a decent goal record but his overall play is pretty poor.

10. Why are so many players running down their contracts?

Beacuse we hit the next level. Unfortunately for us, we got players in who hit the next level of performance and got us to the brink of the CL and cup success. They can play at a higher level and players have all the power now.

why would you pay £50 million + for a player you can wait a year or so for and get for free

Most of the questions you could answer with ‘Rodgers’

Number 8 however. The blokes absolutely irreplaceable. We’ll need to have 2 up front together to ever even half resemble Vardy’s effectiveness for us. And that’ll never happen under this dog turd

Agreed we'll never get "another Vardy", and he is irreplaceable, with everything he did for the team in his prime but there are still quality strikers out there and we need one.

It is daft we got to the point where we are still relying on Vardy to be the one man up front at 35, nearly 36, years of age. The other options are not good enough. Same situation as when Mahrez left, we need quality.

8. Peak Vardy is irreplaceable. When he goes properly we'll need to share the goals among:

A) whichever striker replaces him as the main man

B) his understudy

C) our wide forwards

D) our creative and attacking midfielders

E) full-backs arriving late and unmarked to meet crosses

F) anybody who can win headers from set-pieces

There shouldn't be the pressure on one player to replace Vardy. Finding that player could take 20 or 30 years.
