Summer 2023...

Recommended Posts

May be in my own but wouldn’t mind Moura. We we thin in wide areas and I have always thought he hasn’t had enough chances at Spurs but has looked good when I have seen him.

Smalling as others have said.

Brereton-Diaz? If Vardy’s time is done another striker would be useful.

And Aouar who we’ve been in for before allegedly.

Can also see us being in for Kent.

I’ve only gone for ones I know about/are probably realistic/or we have seemingly been interested in before.

Could get onboard with Smalling but only up until he gets a long injury and then I’d join the gang of what the fec was the club thinking giving this old guy a 3yr contract on (make up a high wage) when we should have been signing youth now we stuck with a lump we can’t shift and no resale value in him

Another DM option:

Vinicius Souza (Brazilian :D). Was top of the charts in the Belgian league last season for tackles & interceptions.

This season he’s on loan at Espanyol and is doing very well. 99th percentile for tackles, 97th percentile for interceptions and 94th percentile for aerial duels won according to Fbref .

How is he on the ball? I want a Ndidi/Soumare hybrid :D

Club scout at FC Koln vs RB Leipzig today monitoring Martel(Koln) Raum(RB) and Szoboszlai(RB)

Love this kind of info, cheers @Sambiasso

I imagine most of us are aware of Szoboszlai (Hungarian, creative MC/AMC), but I'm not that familiar with the other two...

So naturally let's read some scout reports on both 😉

Raum: https://footballtalentscout.net/2022/02/01/david-raum-the-latest-talent-catching-the-eye-in-german-football-by-adam-khan/

Martel:

TL;DR: Raum is a Left Back/Left Midfielder and Martel is a DM, from what I can glean.

Definitely need a new Rb, I don't like Castagne and Ricardo is quality but unfortunately made out of glass

New Gk, wingers as back up to Tete or barnes and provide competition, new cm's to replace tielemans and praet in summer, or more if maddison goes to, back up cb's to our main two, and new a new striker to get replace shit Daka and Vardy who's just passed it...very busy summer

At Lommel though, so chances are he ends up at Man City at some point.

Just watching MOTD and Tarkowski scoring for Everton. I haven’t seen much of him this season but I always thought he’d be good in a team that isn’t ultra defensive (Burnley) or a shambles (Everton). With the free transfer markets for this summer being discussed here, it just got me thinking how our season may have been different had we been in for Tawkowski and especially Pope on frees last summer.

Newcastle weren’t particularly more attractive back in the summer and I do think Pope over Ward could have been massive for us.

Point being that it is a market that is there to be exploited and with those names above, hopefully we’ll return to that method to pick up the odd bargain. Feels like until this Jan window, we have fallen into the trap of the big money clubs where we turn our noses up if they came for less than £20mill!

The free transfer market or market for players with a year or so left on their contract is what Pearson used to reap the rewards from massively.

I don't know why we've opted not to try and sign players on free transfers, it's not as if we don't pay players more wages than they'd get from our direct rivals either, we are notorious for chuffing up. You only have to read the reports on Harrison, who was supposedly set for £100k a week with us and Leeds cannot match that.

Yeah the last time we did it unless I’m missing anyone, was the likes of Cambiasso, Albrighton and Fuchs.

Even Ben Mee for Brentford doing well.

Who are your prime targets from that market @Ric Flair?

Went to watch PNE vs Bristol City and Alex Scott is an absolute talent, we have to sign him in the summer this lad is gong to the very top, wonderfully talent footballer

This would be a great signing, Keep seeing his clips pop up and could be our next asset to sell on.

With Maddison and Tielemens both likely leaving we deffo need some top quality experience back in the team for a player like Scott to thrive on.

I agree with your point about using the free transfer market more than we have done, but Pope went for £10m not on a free. He was a top target for Newcastle and they went all in for him early.

Buttons for a player of his quality but given we seemingly didn’t have a pot to piss in in the summer, Schmeichel didn’t actually move on until a month after Pope transferred, and we’d have struggled to match Newcastle’s offer at the time it wasn’t ever happening.

I don't think Thuram is gettable; reckon he goes to a bigger club.

Which Keita is that in your line-up? Hopefully not Naby. Injury-prone and crap.
