Marco Rose has been impressive but there's been plenty flop. Be interesting to see if this Jaissle is any good. I don't follow the foreign leagues very closely so I can't comment on individuals. However, the point to be admired is that the direction and plan is decided by the club and it's heiarchy. The coach has to fit into that model. Most clubs blow with the way the current manager decides. For clubs likes ours with limited resources, it means we are a poor appointment away from relegation as we can't spend £200m in January to save ourselves. Pearson had set the ownership up with a structure to follow that should have avoided the current mess we are in. Unfortunately, I am of the belief that every manager since has chipped away and eroded it to the point we are no better than anyone else in the league at anything. Our world class training ground was a brilliant piece of forethought that has been a complete waste of money. It should have been the thing that propelled us up a gear but the club built it and stopped building the knowledge structure to use it. Said it before, the club feels like a failing company with a 30year old business plan. It's a big name and no can believe such a big name can fail. Blockbusters FC is here.

Believe me, I live in Sweden and what Potter has done here is absolutely amazing. What he's done for Brighton is equally amazing. Let's think long term and wait for Potter! They will get us relegated. We need a fresh appointment. 4
Popular Post Fosse93 Posted 7 April 2023 Popular Post Posted 7 April 2023 I can't shake the feeling that Marsch would turn out a great appointment for us. Just a gut feeling but I think he would 'get' us as a club, and think he'd win the fans round too. Of all the managers seemingly available, I'd be going for him. 6 3

We continue with Sadler and we finish bottom. Everyone does it - you can’t expect spaces to just open up to play in unless you move your opponent around. the problem we had was we were doing it and no one was trying to find space to take a pass - and when someone did find themselves in a space, the player with the ball doesn’t have the confidence to make the pass or make it crisply enough to allow the receiver to make the most of it. So generally it just goes back and forth with little purpose and rarely any benefit.
themightyfin Posted 7 April 2023 Posted 7 April 2023 Only one who has said they would take it till the end of the season is Dean Smith, and I don't think the club would actually take him but I honestly don't know. The Jesse Marsh link i think has only come from the Fabrizio Romano link I think as nothing seems to be happening anytime soon so the press have jumped on it. If he is in contention then he will only be one of many in the summer i guess. Win tomorrow and I think SAS will have it till end of the season. Then hope and pray they can keep us up before appointing someone in the summer Once the whole manager merry-go-round has been completed with other clubs and managers.
ian__marshall Posted 7 April 2023 Posted 7 April 2023 Wouldn't be averse to Marsch in all honesty. From the outside looking in I thought he did a pretty decent job at Leeds (although I'll happy to be told otherwise by Leeds fans having had to put up with BR running us into the ground whilst the outside world tells us what a wonderful job he's done). From the limited knowledge I have he looked like he brought in a lot of good young talent, injected a lot of energy into the side, and played an intelligent high press system rather than Bielsa ball of chasing every lost cause which led to players being ran into the ground. I think he was a bit unfortunate in the sense that Bielsa left behind a poor squad that needed a lot of work, and to bring in the number of players that he needed to play his style of football ultimately made it a very difficult job this season. Having said that I have heard Leeds fans say that under Marsch they were far too narrow and since Gracia has come in they've added width which has really suited their player's. That is a bit concerning given that the majority of the attacking players were brought in under Marsch. That said, in terms of the job in hand at Leicester given the personnel we have with inverted wingers I think playing a narrow game would actually play to our strengths so I could potentially see him prove to be quite successful with the player's that we have.

So generally it just goes back and forth with little purpose and rarely any benefit. Everyone does it because it is constantly spouted as 'playing football the right way'. How is there a right or wrong way? We are in a situation where the players are petrified to play this way so we need to abandon it. Go back to absolute basics. Clear your lines and put the ball in areas of the pitch where the likes of Vardy and Barnes can go chase. Its exactly how we scored vs Villa. Funny what happens when you give Barnes the opportunity to take on a 38 year old Ashley Young. Its so basic yet it seems like people have forgot that this is a perfectly reasonable way to play football. Too much overthinking and analysis it seems that people have forgot that its just about putting a ball in a net. You do 100 passes to put it in the goal or 2, the end result is the same. The fact everyone does it just means that everyone's defensive lines push forward when in possession. All the more reason to adopting a simple smack the ball up the pitch. We may as well try it. Make the opposition worry about the over the top ball. Vardy still has enough about him to make defenders 2nd guess what they are doing. 2 1
l444ry Posted 7 April 2023 Posted 7 April 2023 Serious money seems to be coming for Marsch. There must be some sort of link with him for that to happen. This season gets worse by the minute.
Tielemans63 Posted 7 April 2023 Posted 7 April 2023 I'm amazed people think Marsch would be a good option. Sacked at Leipzig, sacked at Leeds. While I get that managers will inevitably get sacked, there's nothing about him that makes me think he has what it takes to be Leicester City manager. I'd say Brendan is a much better manager! No, thank you very much. 1 1

We can't see out the season with Happy Gilmore and the Goalkeeping Coach, that'd pretty much confirm our place in the Championship. The board have to bring in someone external just to inject some fresh ideas into the setup even if it's only a temporary measure and someone who you wouldn't want longer term. The levels of incompetence on display by the board at the current time are astonishing. Whilst I'll be devastated if we go down, we have brought it all upon ourselves and will undoubtedly deserve everything that comes with relegation.

Bournemouth will be more telling of course, but right now we need a completely fresh approach and to rip up some of the rot that been hanging around. Bad thing is, our options are limited. 1
Fox 4 Life Posted 7 April 2023 Posted 7 April 2023 Why wouldn't you take Smith on a temporary, whatever anyone says he is still a better option than Stowell and Sadler. 2

Again, we seem to be leaving it too late, after this weekend we'll have 8 games left, they'll stick with SAS.
shiv Posted 7 April 2023 Posted 7 April 2023 Whoever comes in we need to get behind them. Whilst I know the club have made questionable decisions in recent years you can’t deny their track record on managerial appointments for the last 10 years. Our fans have a habit of writing off managers before they’ve even got the job but in the end they all turn out to be successful in their own way. 2

Buzzell Posted 7 April 2023 Posted 7 April 2023 I would feel so much better knowing we had an interim manager at the helm instead of two novices. At this point I don't care who they get in. Just get it done before we run out of games and its too late. 2
