Its on par with Woy at Palace.

Nostalgic pump of adrenaline for the fans- not sure what impact it will have on the players- most of them probably weren't even born when he was a legend at lcfc.

The issue is threefold

players mental state

pre game tactical plan

in game tactics

between MON and Rafa I would trust Rafa with this more but financially, the club will prefer MON because it’s only a short term appointment

Well he's keeping Palace up so it's worked

Roy was managing the club a couple of years ago - he’s also done a role since then at Watford

he understands what’s going on in detail out there on the pitch tactically

I would worry that MON will just stick two wingers out there, push souttar up top and tell them to cross the ball in - and we’ve seen souttar’s ability with attacking headers …..

I honestly can’t believe this is the option they are going for, then again maybe it’s crazy enough to work.

To be fair we all thought the same when we appointed Don Claudio

Laughed it off at first but now expecting it to happen. This is the sort of choice when you want someone for 9 games with no intention of giving them the full job.

It's a big risk, not sure its any better than keeping Rodgers until the summer but it's better than just keeping Stowell and Sandler.

Yep palace raided the crypt and brought Woy back and they STILL beat us so we probably shouldnt complain.

The club have dug such a hole and a geriatric MON is about our level at the moment.

Personally i think its a smokescreen for Morinho.......

The difference with Hodgson is that he was at Palace fairly recently and has affection with them. A chunk of our fanbase weren't even born when MON was here.

I'm starting to sound like his biggest fan here, even by the standards of anyone who grew up watching us in the 90s, but I think people are being unfair thinking he's just a "hairdryer treatment" manager. One of his biggest strengths here was knowing how to deal with players on an individual basis, that's how he turned mediocre Division 1 players into midtable Premier League ones.

Robbie Savage told an interview (The Fox maybe?) that Martin once blasted every player in the team at half time, except Steve Guppy, who he singled out for praise. He knew Gupps didn't respond well to being torn apart, even though he'd been as crap as the rest of the team that day.

That's all well and good. But he's got 6 weeks to turn it all around or we're down. He's not going to have the time to get to know players on that individual basis.

That is fair. Hopefully he will be smart enough to talk to the more senior players and staff to get an idea of how to handle things.

It’s such a stupid idea. Like ridiculous. He’s not managed in ages, he’s too old and he’s not exactly been great in any of his recent jobs. But despite all of that. Fvck. Fvck. The thought of it. I’m totally, totally all in for it.

He’s a legend. I can’t believe that being able to remember O’Neill makes you one of the older fans these days, that’s scary. But fvck if it wasn’t the best time ever. Big massive lumps at centre back scoring 10 goals a season each. A midfield trio as good as any in the league. The sweetest left foot in the world. An own goal magnet at RCB who we still loved. Top ten finishes. Two league cups. A team of misfits. Goalposts for jumpers. Shinning it in. Keeper substitution strokes of genius. “Martin, Martin O’Neill” to the tune of Go West. Annoying Spurs. A Greek Adonis. Juninho in our pockets. An overweight, mulleted, 20 fags a day nobsack second choice striker who somehow was the greatest finisher on earth if only he could get to the ball. Wenger not being able to handle us. Steve. Fvcking. Walsh. O’Neill interviews like a fvcking work of art, looking down at the floor, somehow appearing simultaneously awkward and nervous but also genuinely insane and threatening. Elliott turning prime Cruyff and turning Desailly on a sixpence. Izzet scoring the greatest overhead kick ever. Fvck. Fvck. Let’s do this. Come on people. Fvck. I’m digging out my shitty, “the sponsor is far too big and foamy” 99/00 home kit. We’re doing this. I don’t care if it’s a fvcking cvnt of a stupid idea, if it works we’ll remember it forever. What is football for if not for dreams? What’s the point of it’s not a little magic? Fvck. Fvck. This is on.

Poetry.

With all we've done recently, MON's time for some reason just felt more special. I remember the players more fondly,  the management, the style of football, Filbert Street! What a time to be a fan

I know you're being facetious, but playing for 1 point every game is a huge reason we went down in 07/08. Never been more miserable watching us at home, even this season.
