Algorithms don't take into account brittleness, weak mentality etc... we're terrible (and I mean literally the worst side I've ever seen) at all the intangibles. I'll be surprised if we even get to 30 points, let alone survive.

100%.

Yes there is only 2 points in it to 17th. Yes there are games left.

Its the difference between mathematically having plenty of opportunities and of course we can stay up.

Realistically, the loss yesterday, as well as being a 6 pointer on Bournemouth and likely putting them out of our reach, is also symbolic in that there is no signs from anywhere that we can win a game let along 4….

We had 5 games left against teams in and around us and 4 against top half. Now it’s 4 and 4. Margin of error has now completely gone and we would have to win all 4 of the below;

Wolves (h)

Everton (h)

Leeds (a)

West Ham (h)

And there’s just no evidence at all, not even hope to cling on to, that that will happen.

I voted yes, purely based on yesterday.

In the past, when the caretaker comes in, they play the team the fans want to see, they can see it too, but the previous manager was too wrapped up in themselves to see it. And with that you usually get a performance, if not the result.

What's happened since Rodgers has gone has actually been worse. This suggests there's some serious issues in the dressing room. I'm not anti marsch like alot of others on here, but after yesterday, I'm not sure he's the answer.

But I don't know if the answer actually exists right now, which is why I think we will go down regardless of what happens. I hope I'm wrong and we stay up, we have winnable games, but I think it's unlikely.

If I was top I would be all in on getting Nig, Shakey and Walsh back.

First time I’ve voted yes on one of these. We’ve gone already

Same. I was confident until the last week unfolded. I just can't see us win a couple let alone string a run of 3 or 4 wins together

Not just down, but down in last place.

The squad:

Those leaving don’t care.
Those looking for a transfer don’t care.
Those planning on submitting a request as soon as relegation is confirmed don’t care.
The rest have given up because of the malaise they see around them and just want it all to be over.

Maddison could have issued a humble grovelling apology for his and the team’s performance yesterday. The craven coward took his twitter offline instead - hiding to the bitter end because he can’t wait to get away.

This attitude has been bred in the squad by Top, the structure around the club, Rodgers, and the coaches.

Spineless cowards.

Absolutely this. The warning signs have been there for a while. The club hierarchy - Rodgers and Rudkin et al - have allowed us to get in a situation where we’ve expanded the squad with dross (to compete in Europe), meaning there is no real healthy squad competition. How else can established and high level PL players transition into donkeys? Rodgers was also allowed to over stay his natural cycle and the rot and staleness is too embedded.

Key players have left, are too old or are running down their contracts. And as I say those who’ve been brought in are not up to scratch. I remember Pearson talking about he always used to look into a players mindset and character before signing them, but how the squad is devoid of character or mental strength. It’s absolutely pathetic, and we deserve everything that’s coming our way.

We are seeing the perfect storm come to fruition really. Just as we used to be a great example of how to build a club, this has to be the textbook example of how to mess things up, and in such a short space of time. Quite impressive really.

I think we use this time now to see if any of the youth players are ready to step up. Let’s be realistic this team is shot of all confidence and has lost its fight and spirit. Give marsch or whoever it is the time to identify the summer targets because it’s one hell of a rebuild job in the summer.

It's not over just yet so I've said no we won't go down.

Optimistic but there is still a chance

It’s quite incredible to watch that performance yesterday and say we still have a chance. But you’re right - we do.  it’s 100% down to the new coach and his man management skills.   Next week is a dead game - just have to try and preserve our GD - nine men behind the ball will perhaps give Marsch a chance to see who he can rely on.  Then we have several more six pointers and the teams above us also have tough games.

Change required now to have any chance at all, and even then it is incredibly small chance given the lack of effort coming from these players, so have to vote no and I am generally annoyingly positive.

I am an optimist too but when you lose to Southampton, Palace and  Bournemouth we just have to accept that there ain't gonna be another Great Escape. Being an optimist though - I can say this with great certainty - We'll be back!

Yes. Any new manager will need a Javi Garcia impact with Leeds style. Our nearest rival is Everton on 27 so even with a ten points in the next 5 games sort of run, we be got to hope that some far better run clubs/teams don’t pick up 5 in the same time.

It’s infuriating what the board and players have done to us. **** them

Obviously voted yes, there should be a glimmer of hope because of the amount of games left and the poor standard of the division but we are absolutely useless, no fight in us at all, tactically inept and cannot even do the basics right.

Weird team selections continue despite the change of manager, negative and defensive even against other poor sides. Coaches and players are a disgrace and I’ll be happy to see the back of 75% of them.

They have destroyed the club from within, we’re limping along, a slow death in the worst Premier League for a long long time.

Mollycoddled players who need a rocket up their backsides who come the summer will be like rats leaving a sinking ship far to good for the division they have led us into.

Pathetic season right from the Brentford game.

Unless someone recognises that levels of commitment are not, in spite of what we've been told for months, even verging on acceptable, we're done. And that means a few of the chaps we consider to be our star names being told in no uncertain terms that they need to grow a backbone too. The likes of Maddison and Barnes get an easy ride because they're more valuable, and come up with the occasional moment of magic. But these are attacking players. That's what they're meant to do, in addition to offering the most basic levels of competitiveness. Amartey and Castagne also come in with a vital challenge every now and then, but they've still been falling woefully short. I feel some sympathy for Iversen, who's done his bit, and for those who aren't yet (or aren't any longer) at EPL standard, but are trying gamely. But for every VK there's a Soumare. Negativity, fear, cowardice are the hallmarks of the team and have been for a long while. Everything about the club smacks of people assuring themselves that no, they don't need to crack a sweat. Maybe because they don't know what it means to be in a scrap, or because it's beyond them to prevail in one, or because they don't feel the need to get involved in one because they're off soon anyway. But if there's some clarity that, yes, actually they have been substandard, half-arsed and gutless after all, and therefore can do a hell of a lot better, we might actually have a chance.
