It's best for all parties to move him on - and we need to accept a lower than desired fee for this. Torino chairman, is that you? 7

Doesn't mean that every player was great though, perhaps all the options in that position would struggle to get in the Scotland team.

James_lcfc Posted 1 August 2023 Posted 1 August 2023 I know he's never done anything for us, but if we need someone to plug the advancing #8 role before getting someone in - I'd much rather Praet than Ndidi! 2
Popular Post Guest Posted 1 August 2023 Popular Post Posted 1 August 2023 As usual nobody can actually tell you what he's meant to be good at, just that he's played for Belgium 5

Popular Post SouthStandUpperTier Posted 1 August 2023 Popular Post Posted 1 August 2023 I wouldn't use his selection for Belgium as any kind of proof that he's good. He got his first cap 9 years ago and has still only played a total of 622 minutes of international football, with only 31 of those minutes coming in major tournaments. A lot of the Belgium squad have built a reputation by being dragged along on the coat-tails of KDB (and occasionally Courtois - and Lukaku when he can shoot straight). Their 'golden generation' is a bit of a myth. 4 1

This is where actual seeing something with your own eyes beats stats. That was 100% the pass that was intended. He looked up, saw the run and played it perfectly. There shouldn’t be much doubt over his technique, more the application of that technique and his tendency to disappear from games that have set him back. Maybe he’s not suited to the physicality of the English game but that pass was outstanding. 4

No, but it’s fair to say the top ranked team will have a higher average quality of player than say a 20th ranked team..

Agreed but Praet could be their worst player by a country mile. Can't remember seeing him play for them but similarly can't remember anyone shouting about how well he'd played for them either.

A neat and tidy intelligent midfielder that helped better players like De Bruyne dictate a game. We used to utilise Andy King in that role. You could argue that Hendo plays that role (albeit with added leadership) for England. Sure there are better ballers out there but for a good while Praet ticked that box for Martinez.

As mentioned above for '31 miniutes in major tournaments' which makes the argument 'he plays for Belgium' somewhat redundant.

I'm playing devil's advocate here, if he wanted to stay I'd be hopeful that he'd do a decent job for us at this level.
Samilktray Posted 1 August 2023 Posted 1 August 2023 Can’t believe this bloke is still here and still getting called up to Belgium based off of 1 pass against Burnley or Brentford or whatever uninteresting football club starting with the letter B it was
