I’ve heard from someone in the women’s team that Seagrave is unbelievable in terms of facilities but it’s like going to a private hospital. Lots of clean corridors, closed doors, like you’d see in a clinical setting and no training ground vibes. The year Barnsley got beat in the play offs by Swansea with big Val In charge we were playing corridor cricket outside his office and table tennis in the away changing room, the mood around the club was unbelievable and flowed from one department to the next. I can only imagine that Seagrave is like a hospital waiting room where footballing dreams go to die.

.. wasn't there a comment by Dean Smith that he got the players to remove their plates when they had finished eating, as it was a way of getting them to do something for themselves!!!

It sounds far to easy up there, it makes you less keen to be successful if everything is done for you.

I thought that Belvoir drive couldn’t be sold for houses??? I think the top half where the dome is is leased with some years still left which maybe could be developed on, I’ve heard this could be possibly going. But I seem to remember reading years ago the bottom half has some protection status on it saying it has to remain a sports facility if sold.

Maybe they’ll build a leisure centre to get round it and surround it with houses, or put a basketball court in, or metal table tennis table, or the developers will bribe someone on the council.

The nimbies will stop any such thing. Imagine the traffic congestion around that area with a leisure centre.

I’d assume the best thing would be residential (housing targets to meet) and the other legalities will be ironed out.

Interesting.

Makes no sense having the women’s team not using the facility. They might bring some inspiration back to the place.

It's only fair the top flight team get the better facilities imo

...Isn't the land at Belvoir Drive under some covenant!!!

I am not sure on the situation but I would have thought we would have little control in selling the land much less what was to be built on it.

I am not sure if this is going to be well received by the players wives, probably will be some relationships on a knife edge regarding trust, and this is not going to help.

Belvoir drive is not going to be sold for houses I know that for a fact!

Firstly they don't own the land they rent it.

And secondly they cannot build on it as there was an old water source way before anything was built and its prone to flood.

I know this because my back garden frequently floods and I've had damage which numerous parties have paid for the damage.

I have had surveyors, contractors, builders the waterboard and even the council out to try and figure out how to stop the flooding but they can't seem to get to the bottom of it.

But basically before the first team left for Seagrave I was told from numerous parties that houses or any building will never be built on the Belvoir site it will always be used for sporting purposes.

Building don't create an organisation culture the people and the leadership do.

The sad fact is Belvoir drive is an amazing training facility it seems better now than when the first team were here.

I dont know if they have new staff or what but it looks fantastic.

Yeah it’s not that easy. The top half of the land is certainly the YMCA’s. They might be selling the first half with the main building on it.

I think you’ve missed my point, you don’t build that culture behind closed doors with everyone working in silos. The more separated and distant everyone is from one another the worse off the culture is. Hence as you suggest, why I have been calling for a manager in other threads who will align us as a club on and off the field.

Yes, I thought that too. And as someone else said, I think the whole land is YMCA owned and leased to City (and Jones & Shipman, way back when)

This is correct and this is why the land will only be used for sporting purposes past presant and future.

I have had assurances from multiple sources that no houses or buildings will ever be built on the Belvoir drive site.

I did hear it may be used for cricket purposes like it once was in the past and I also heard the tigers were also interested but I take this information as just gossip this rumours have been circling since city announced they were moving to Seagrave.

Yup. I was surprised they weren't in for it on a rent from the get go. Their Oadby Wyggs base is totally inadequate

Providing it doesn’t end up ****ing the womens team over then I’m all for it…too many stories from other clubs of women’s sides ending up training at ridiculous times to appease the men’s team schedules. Shouldn’t be an issue with the 7 billion pitches and facilities at Seagrave.

To be frank, the focus is men's team. If their efforts to raise funds to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and support their promotion also affect the women's team, then unfortunately, the women may have to face the consequences.

Piper let this slip on RL last night. I think it came from Rodgers in an off air conversation that he had to get the players to clean up after themselves.

Pathetic baby men.

As I said  earlier Belvoir drive is a great training facility and seems to improve year after year.

I think the tigers would thrive here

You can still hire pitches on it via YMCA

Plans are in place to abandon the old Belvoir Drive training ground, the home of Leicester City Women, and replace it with housing. The womens’ team will then be moved to Seagrave.

I thought there was some covenant which prevented the Club selling Belvoir Drive for commercial purposes other than sports / leisure use?

When this gets finally sold it'll be a clear sign that we're either selling up or desperately after cash.

We’re not desperate for cash, the club are desperately afraid of PSR. Unlike Forest who are essentially cheating and giving the premier league the birdies and getting away with it, we dare not do anything anymore other than spend £3m on a right back and not play them.
