All over isn't it. How do you know they are haggling? They’ve supposedly made an opening bid. Please don’t ever work in business if you are willing to give the asking price instantly. We are asking for £60m for Madders, I can tell you now we will accept less than £60m. Your asking price is always higher than what you are actually willing to accept. 1

The forward, 26, is a target for a number of clubs this summer following his impressive performances for Blackpool in the just-completed season. Now Leicester have registered their interest in Yates as they look to reinforce their front line. Blackpool are facing a battle to keep hold of their prize asset following their relegation from the Championship. It is believed they have already turned down a £2.5million bid for Yates as they hold out for their £3-4million valuation to be met. Leicester are in the market for striking reinforcements this summer with doubts surrounding the long-term futures of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho. They see Yates as someone who help fire them to promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The former Rotherham striker was the outstanding performer for Blackpool last season, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists in all competitions despite Blackpool’s struggles at the wrong of the table. Leicester could face competition for his signature as Rangers watched Yates in action for Blackpool in their win against Preston North End last season, sources told Football Insider.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 13 June 2023 Posted 13 June 2023 Seems fairly low risk and would be part of the squad, not necessarily the answer to all our problems. I'd certainly give him a chance! 2
mozartfox Posted 13 June 2023 Posted 13 June 2023 His Grandad always impressed on Songs of Praise. It’s a yes from me. 3
Calm Posted 13 June 2023 Posted 13 June 2023 Doubtful this is true, but would be okay as a squad player I guess. Need to sort the manager first IMHO.

fkas Posted 13 June 2023 Posted 13 June 2023 Can play out wide, can play through the middle. Managed to do well in a losing cause last season in the Championship. Seems like a worthwhile punt at the price mentioned. 1

Claudio Fannieri Posted 14 June 2023 Posted 14 June 2023 18 goal involvements in a relegated side is not too shabby alongside his versatility will make him a decent squad player at this level. Obviously a significant downgrade on the quality of player we have been used to over the last 9 years or so but that is where we are now. 3
fazzyfox Posted 14 June 2023 Posted 14 June 2023 Is he a leader? Does he put maximum effort in? Does his brain not turn to putty the moment we concede the first goal? Those are my first questions on any new player as we have to redress the huge in-balance in the squad. We can't bring any more negatives in, if he passes the above then we can look more closely.

George Hirst has had 2 loan spells in the Championship and correct me if I'm wrong, hasn't scored a single goal at that level. The last time we got promoted Nugent, Vardy and Wood got about 50 between them. Hirst is a mile off right now, I'd sell him in a heartbeat. We also had Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Kevin Phillips who were two vastly experienced strikers at that level. They chipped in with a few goals but more importantly they were good for us to bring on and help us see out games and they probably had a positive influence on our other strikers. People will laugh at me for saying this but GTF but very good at holding the ball up and playing sensibly, taking the ball to the corner for us to see out games. I used to call him the full-time whistle. Hirst won't even offer us what those two did.

Exactly the type of player we should be looking at who wouldn’t have too much expectation on him. Can learn from Vardy. Thrive of our training ground and facilities. Knows the league well. Saxondale Posted 14 June 2023 Posted 14 June 2023 Sounds like a recently retired history teacher. It’s a no from me.
markko Posted 14 June 2023 Posted 14 June 2023 If we have no manager, who is buying this player? Either we have someone in place and this is all being done behind the scenes or it is paper talk/speculation. If we going to sign someone I would go for the lad at PSG. One year left and moves like shit.off a shovel! Can't hink of his name but have got that Hanson song in my head for some reason.
Iran Posted 14 June 2023 Posted 14 June 2023 14 goals and 4 assists for a relegated Blackpool shouldn't go under the radar. 1
