Everton had a 4.5m buy option after having already paid a few mill for taking him on loan

They would have paid for a loan fee on top of that, obviously we’ll never know if that makes the fee comparable.

But he is unwanted at Wolves and wasn't  that successful at Everton plus there isn't any other club after him..... surely because of that we could have got a better deal say 4m

4 year deal. Ffs. What's the need for that. If we get promoted this year he automatically becomes not good enough.

If he's a strong contributing factor to promotion then he will have paid for himself.

Look at it that way....

Superb signing. Not worried about overpaying a by a couple of million if we are getting guaranteed quality and leadership.

Definitely need to give him the arm band straight away.

Apparently he turned down prem offers.

He is still a quality defender at prem level.

What the hell do you expect him to do? Sign a 1-year deal lol lol

Agree Wolves fans online seem to be happy there getting a big fee for him.....they thought he'd only go for 3 to 4m max

That's because they're fairly thick, and don't understand the the price Everton were quoted to buy, was in addition to the £4mil or so loan fee they already paid.

Can't be that good considering wolves and Everton didn't want him.

If we get promoted he will automatically be not good enough for us anymore.

If we don't get promoted then he'll be an aging player on big wages draining us.

Praying for the first option.

If we get promoted having someone like Coady around the squad would be great for us to have in the first season back which would likely be a fight to stay up

Even then are we not able to sell him on or loan him out if we get promoted?

A lot of money for a bit of back up.

It’s highly likely he’s going to be on a decent wage here given we’ve beaten PL clubs to the signature. So it won’t be easy to shift.

As I’ve said probably a good signing but on a piss poor deal

Getting England call ups so can’t be that bad either.

So Everton had a 4.5m buy option on him but we've agreed to pay 7.5m?!?

What the hell

Because they had already paid a loan fee of probably about £4mil.....for one season!!

Where has the supposed 4 year deal come from?

Not in the Express and Star article that first broke it and wasn't mentioned by either of Fabrizio or Percy?

Everyone just has to find something negative about anything the club do, don't they lol

Nature of the beast. If we were dragging our heels on Maddison to try and extract more cash and hadn't signed anyone by Friday there'd be uproar.

Just seeing the effort and passion he put into Everton’s last game against Bournemouth when only being a loan player shows why he is the type of signing we need.

Probably paying too much for him but I would rather have him in a championship scrap than Faes or Evans

A bit interested to know what those Premier League offers were for them, especially for Winks.
