Wheel of Names | Random name picker

This is the wheel spinner. I've decided as a slightly niche, slightly insane idea to let the wheel decide where I'm going to.

I've listed every country in Europe on there that I have never previously managed in to ensure I get a totally new league to do and one by one eliminated countries until I am left with my destination. I have repeated this process with both the league and then the club.

The country is Sweden.

The league is the Superettan, the second tier.

The club is IK Brage.

We move.

Wonder if I've just played this so long that it's too easy now but this has been a near flawless save.

First season we finished midtable with a side predicted to be in the bottom half. Our performances were pretty strong but we were let down by pretty wasteful finishing and bad goalkeeping - the usual issues so I moved to fix both in the summer. In the second season we were promoted as champions and back to the Allsvenskan for the first time since 1993.

First season up was a pretty similar season to my first year, we finished 9th out of 16 which was very respectable. We were huge draw specialists, I think we drew 11 out of our 15 home games lol we were very tough to beat but didn't score many.

The next season we won the Allsvenskan! We were profiling pretty well on the data again but a couple of subtle tweaks got us over the line. It was probably one of my best underdog runs as we seemed to change from draw specialists to win 1-0 specialists - not even exaggerrating when I say I think we won over half of our 30 games 1-0. Defensively an absolute rock and always seemed to have the knack of pinching a goal late on. Once I'd won the league I wanted to have a run in Europe and then move on although the fact the Swedish calendar ran from April to November meant I had another season in there which this time we finished 4th, which was another European finish.

The European run. I ran into Bodo/Glimt in what is possibly the dullest tie a Swedish side could possibly ask for in a first European outing and lost both legs, pretty unluckily as well. We beat Slovan Bratislava 4-1 on aggregate meaning we were guaranteed at least a group stage spot in one of the competitions. We beat Zrinjski in a thriller and bagged a place in the Europa League. Mixed results, the highlight being a shock 2-1 win over Wolfsburg which is probably the crowning jewel moment of the save so far, but were knocked out in the play-off round by Basel, a side who'd absolutely burgled us in the group stage with the most ridiculously one sided 4-0 win I've seen, and by one sided, I mean we completely dominated them and somehow contrived to lose it 4-0. We played well in the knockout game but just couldn't finish them off and lost 2-1 on aggregate.

As planned I left Brage and took the Mainz job. They were 16th in the Bundesliga with 8 league games left so a bit of pressure on it knowing there was a chance we were relegated, although Mainz' squad was probably in reality about 12th/13th best in the league so it would've been an underperformance to drop with them. We managed 8 points from 8 games and finished 13th. Not very convincing but over the line. Had a bit of an overhaul in the summer of the squad and brought in some key players such as Desire Doue and Leny Yoro - two players I debated for a while yet in time would wonder how it was ever in any doubt at all. We lost a starting winger to Wolfsburg on deadline day so late on that we didn't even manage a replacement and were playing a man down until January. Once again though the odds were defied and we finished 3rd in the league. I play this 4-3-3 system. No time for inverted wing back, however, inverted full back seems to be a bit overpowered where they seem to offer a bit in attack yet are totally solid at the back as well. We're like Brage very hard to beat and don't let in many goals at all. Currently in my third season at Mainz and 2nd going into the winter break, but Bayern are looking beyond us unfortunately - though I'm yet to lose to them.

It's been a fun save with hardly any setbacks at all. Your loss Setubal :D

The problem I had with Sweden was it was a bad 'spin' (which is how I ended up doing Sweden in the first place), and the reason is I'd just done a 10 year long save in Norway. Well the league systems are practically identical. I'd not try and discourage anyone from Sweden but I need a bit more variety.

Since that post I've lost 3/3 in all comps. A mix of AFCON, injuries and horrid fixtures. Bayern have basically won the league already. Part of me regretting turning down Juventus. If this gets a bit dull I may just spin the wheel again and see where I'm sent off to next.

Quite hilariously I have just completed the quadruple with the Foxes and with Daka as my main striker. Obviously picked up some absolute banging players along the way and now a new Greek striker who looks to have been modelled on prime Hamza - Sigalas, probably a new gen.

Having a rather odd glitch, just started with Palace, Rak Sakyi i'm wanting to give a chance in the first team.

So i've added him into the first team, but he's not showing on any screen, tactics, registration, selection screen, nowhere at all.

Searched him and he's definitely showing as being in the first team.

So I dropped him back to the U21's and he shows in there!

Any ideas?? lollol

If you click filter in the top right on the squad screen you haven't got players that "do not need to be registered" ticked have you?

Worked to get Southend up from the Vanarama to the Skybet EFL Champo, in pre-season and now I've got lads on 4k p/w moaning that I can't give them the 22k p/w they want, with plenty of contracts due to expire at the end of the season. Get in the goddam bin, remember who made you

I've got to the Premier League with Colchester.

We're finally redeveloping the stadium so we have to play elsewhere for 12 months.

In their infinite wisdom, the board have picked Stamford Bridge! Not Ipswich or Southend or even Norwich.

Imagine being from a small town and having to commute into London for the football

I had a long flight so thought to myself "I'll download FM Touch to alleviate the boredom"

First FM since 2016 and I'm neck deep in a HSV save having sworn I would never go back.

Side note: the amount of times you hit the bar and post in this game is absolutely ridiculous.

Anyone still playing this? Interested to know where everyones at with saves, if any, need some inspiration for something new to tide me over until what will hopefully be a new release towards the end of the year.

Still playing it.

I've managed in quite a few countries on it so started doing this thing which is essentially pick a random team.

Make a list of all the countries (in Europe for now) that I've not managed in. Spin the wheel to see where I get, then do the same with the club (although exclude the top division). This has taken me to Sweden, Croatia, Czech Republic, Austria and now Israel. Currently managing a team called Hapoel Acre. 5th year there and I'm looking good to win the league this season.

I simmed 10 years into the future and then started an unemployed save (if I did it again I would probably look to sim for 15-20 years so it is at the point where all real players have retired)

Currently in 2043 and now at Man Utd,  basically winning everything but just trying for that unbeaten season now

Once I manage that I am planning to resign and then join a team in the National League North/South, someone like Luton who have made it all the way down, and get them all the way up

This cracks me up.

Having a trip down memory lane, looking up old FM 2006 player profiles. Different time, man, the ratings used to be so absolutely bonkers on players.

Like this Vincent Kompany would be basically one of the best forwards in the world in FM 2024:

But my particular favourite is one of Robert Huth where he's got 15 pace and 16 free kick taking lollol

I haven’t played this in years, and I heard that FM2025 was cancelled… can anyone give me some advice on how to get a version of FM with a database for this season?

I’m getting divorced and suddenly lots of free time has appeared out of nowhere for the first time in years! And I want to relive the glory years pre wife.

Any advice welcome.

Kompany and Anthony Vanden Borre were both absolutely god-tier.

Whoever was responsible for the Belgian league's data in those days had some fun.

They were all like it, it's hilarious. I've been playing a few old FMs over the last couple of weeks for a laugh and a bit of nostalgia.

Player ratings around the 05 - 10 era were absolutely bonkers, there was clearly no major moderation done so some editors have done their teams fairly realistically and then others have run absolutely wild.

Scotland is full of absolute chad wonderkids, as is Belgium and famously we all know about some of the nuts Scandis.

Progressively ratings have just come lower and lower and a lot more sensible. You can actually play like 2005 then 2015 and then 2024 (womp womp 25) and just look around the world and just see how the general balance has changed over time.

I wasn't old enough for the CM days but my impression is a lot of the nostalgia is because it was so easy
